Stitching-A-Long

I was really pleased when Chookyblue suggested making up some things from the books we had previously got for Stitch-A-Longs... there are lots of the projects that I wanted to do and just needed a nudge to start on some new projects!

It's great to have a blog where goals are set for you and loads of people add their projects and encourage me on mine....

The three books are Some Kind of Wonderful, Tis the Season and Red Home... I already had two of them and needed no arm twisting to get the Red Home book....

I started with doing the shoe bags as I was too impatient to wait for the new book to arrive....

Now for me to make shoe bags is a bit funny... I am not a shoe person... due to societies expectations I need to use them when I go out.. and I have these boots for my garden otherwise these old feet of mine like to be naked.....

but I think the bags are gorgeous... I had some scraps of 'sewing' themed fabric and some large gingham in the cupboard.. and I'm very happy with how they have turned out..... and they will be great in the giftie cupboard ....

While I waited for my Red Home book I found these strippy pieces in a bag of scraps a friend gave me....

so I joined a few together... I made 8 pieces of fabric thinking I could do a few for the giftie basket...

the book has arrived and I find I have miscalculated what I need..... in fact it has cut out 12 thread catchers.....so  it's a bit of a production line here!!!

Righto, Gotto Go... back into the sweat shop I go....

The green gingham makes a pretty base fabric for your lovely shoe bags.
You're on a roll with those thread catchers :)

My feet like to go naked too, but those are very cute shoes on your shoe bags! Love the bright colours.

I'm giggling about your production line - they'll make great gift baskets even for those who don't need to catch threads.

Enjoy the pretty fabrics.

I LOVE those shoebags - the fabrics and appliques are so fresh and bright and fun! I'm not a shoe person either - I'm happiest barefoot - there are a few of us around, lol.

Love the idea of a gifty cupboard. I think I'm going to clear one out here for just that purpose! Like you, I prefer to go barefoot (which provides my MIL with additional chiding material). Even after stepping on a scorpion while padding to the kitchen in the middle of the night, I still kick off the flip-flops and happily traipse around like a hobbit.
Your shoe bags are adorable...and they would work for my flip-flops!

Love those shoe bags. You will have a good supply of thread catchers to put into thegiftie cupboard - would be useful for putting all kinds of things in, not just threads.

Production line sewing indeed! Nice fabrics. Feet are meant to be naked, society is just so tedious except that shoes do come in handy in summer when crossing hot asphalt!
