ChooseDay

Wasn't able to meet and sew with the other girls this week but I did get onto the machine and do a bit of my sewing that I had planned.….

First up I did my 7 piece block for Loopy's Place sampler quilt......

Then I made the dresden plate circle with those teeny tiny pieces for the final Flowerville block.....

Les Courtiers was the next in line for some work and I sewed the Courthouse Steps block

… and the Log Cabin block....

…. as well as preparing a heap of HST's to make into pinwheels.... as well as some preparation for a Star block.....

A bit of progress on those projects..... so many more I want to do aswell....

Take care, keep warm....  and have fun doing what you love....

Righto, Gotto Go.... a yummy hot chocolate drink whilst I do a few stitches on this cold damp day....

This and that.....

I have been doing the embroidery sections of these Garden Sunshine blocks over the last week and this weekend I made up the Flying Geese blocks to go with them

These blocks are 12 1/2" square

I also brought out my Wings and Pretty Things (Michelle Ridgway design) to plan another block
(there are still 10 more to do)

I noticed my little corner butterflies didn't have their feelers so those got stitched...

One of Hubz work colleagues became a Grandmother for the first time a little while ago....  after a bit of discussion with her we decided on this cute panel.....

No sewing needed on the panel so I got to quilting around the edges of the animals today.

Just the binding to make and attach now

My little mini quilt was finally used to make up this postcard

I had a bit of fun with variegated thread to make up the bushes and then brown thread to create textured bark on the trees.

The quilt hangs loose on the line…..

It is now winging it's way over the seas and far away to a new home …

I get it stamped and franked at the post office and then put it into a cellophane sealed bag....

This little quilted flower was made up into another postcard whilst I had my little machine that does satin stitch out....

When there is lots of tight quilting like that its good and stiff for a postcard.

Needless to say I had a happy weekend playing in my sewing room.....

I hope you had a happy weekend doing what you love to do....

This week......

This week I made leek and potato soup - I got lots of different ideas from people so trying to experiment each week.  I made this a few years ago but forgot about it....

Hubz likes taking soup with him to heat up at lunch time at work too..... easy and warming...

Over the weekend I concentrated on working some more of the crochet blanket and managed quite a few more rows.... I'm still not even half way so I must remind myself not to get too sidetracked on other things....

love all these colours together

I did sneak in this postcard ….. another project I mustn't lose sight of....

I bought these handprinted and cut squares at a quilt show a couple of years ago.  So often I just want a very light throw/quilt so I pulled these out on my design wall and have bundled them into rows to sew one of these days.....

Its a light open weave fabric - I have some white sheeting I will back it with.

.. and I have started another pair of socks!  I have a few more balls of the same yarn and also want to practice a bit more before I can make some as gifts...  My first pair is in use, holes, bumps, and all.... my feet don't seem to mind.

Righto, Gotto Go.... things to do ….

Handwork....

Handwork has been my sanity lifeline for the last few weeks....  I just love that after we have eaten our evening meal we sit in front of the TV and I pick up my handwork.....

I have sewn down the binding for these next two zippy vinyl bags.....

… sewn to the back of course where there is no vinyl.....

… and attached the stitchery circle to the Dresden plate (which was already stitched down)

… and finished off the last Flowerville stitchery ….  next ChooseDay I will sew the little plates ….

… and finally last night I did the last stitches of my second sock.....

I am ridiculously pleased with my first ever hand made socks... mistakes and all they will still be lovely and snug.

It's warmed up again here so I don't need them at the moment... but no doubt cold winter weather will come visiting again over the next couple of months...

Righto, Gotto Go..... I need to go and pull out some postcards to stitch tonight.....

FNWF

Double date with Cheryll hosting FNWF and Marion hosting Sit and Sew at The Quilters Angel...

I took my Flowerville and carried on with some of that... still a fair bit to do but hopefully I will get that done during the evenings this week …..

I did sew down the binding for one of my project folders (Marilyn's pattern) …..

A quilted back and the zippy front with vinyl.....

Righto, Gotto Go.... trying to get some 'work quilting' done on this misty damp cold day ….. I have had more election counting work this week so things are getting behind....

Take care, be happy and enjoy your crafting......x

Finally.....

I got to go on a pre-booked bus trip to meet up with Michelle.....

We met up at Beenleigh Quilters show... they had quite a lovely variety of quilts, and a trading hall and a lovely room full of ladies sharing their crafts.

I neglected to take pictures as my phone was almost on empty (silly me forgot to charge it) but Michelle said I could use some of hers.... (thanks Michelle)

I enjoyed seeing a Splendid Sampler - this is one that I made aswell (mine is still not quilted) though this lady did a lot more blocks and her setting is just lovely - shows the blocks off so well....

I thought this was a really fun foundation pieced quilt....

Michelle has quite a few more pictures of quilts.... go HERE for a look...

I found some of this Japanese style fabric which I have been coveting for some time - it was drastically reduced so of course I couldn't leave it behind....

this is one of the hand made goodies on sale...

a clever little project pouch with a bunch of zip lock bags in it....

I have no idea what I will use it for..

… an easy thing to make ….

and I also found this set of little cases.....

I have no idea why I bought them….. but they are sweet and could store fabric.....  impulse buy which is silly of me.... they all fit inside each other

Finally I also got to go to ChooseDay sewing too …

I sewed a Dresden plate circle for Flowerville

now I need to applique it down and add the stitchery to the centre

Then I did a bit of fiddly little foundation piecing.... to make a micro mini quilt.....

this will be a part of something else but it took me ages it needs its own special mention....

I have had a bunch of Marilyn's project binders planned for ages... I managed to quilt the panels for the back previously and started putting these together....

They have clear vinyl on the fronts.... I just need to sew down the binding for them now.....

Marilyn's free tutorial is HERE

More soup has been made - this time pumpkin

(last week I had a big fail pumpkin soup and it all went down the plughole)

… happily this one worked just fine....

I feel a bit bored with my soups... same same always

got any good soup recipes anyone????

...perfect for a cool evening.....

Righto, Gotto Go.... some binding to do.....
