End of April....

Already 1/3rd of the year is gone..... April whizzed past but I did get a finish... this little 'Pockets to Go" bag/box/thingamajig....

I have been focussing on my Field Journal embroideries... they are a nice thing to take to Embroidery Guild

... and I have worked on a couple more blocks for Gossip in the Garden..... trying to do some reasonable progress each month

Both of these blocks are needle-turned and then a bit of embroidery for the words and stems...

On Wednesday I had a friend around with her sewing machine and these little blocks were done.... 12 pieces each and only 4 1/2" so a little bit fiddly......  I need to sew some together and attach them to another block which I will do this weekend....

This little boot is part of Field Journal.... I love this thread and the colours in this one..... (I love them all truth be told)

This was a March green RSC block which I got quilted this week....

... and I stitched together Aprils purple one....

... as well as made my purple house....

I have a very limited range in purple scraps as I used a whole bunch in a quilt a while ago, but I'm happy with it....

I still have my little purple buttons to do.... they just have to wait... In a couple of days we will have a new colour - I hope I won't be trying to do a mad dash late in the month again.

Righto, Gotto Go..... Soup for supper....

3rd week of April....

The start of this week and we said goodbye to our visiting family.  A new budget airline now has flights between Toowoomba and Melbourne and they were on the first flight back (earlier flight being the first one in)

It is so convenient and much cheaper so hopefully we can use it more often.

Being a small regional airport we could stand close and watch it all happening....

I admit to some tears.....

I have sewn up all the pies that I have fabric cut out for - depending on how far they go there may be more required.  This week I glued down a bunch to background and they are ready for me to applique on - then the tarts which are fiddly diddly small pieces... humfffffff

I have joined our local Embroidery Guild - a perfect group to take my Field Journal work.  I am quite pleased with the work that I do, but oh my gosh it is nothing compared to the beautiful handwork I see there... fine cross-stitch, crewel embroidery, whitework and others I can't pronounce ....

I did the mistletoe last night whilst watching a Series on TV

Some machine sewing has been done... but it was for someone else and so has my quilting but today I pulled out Gossip in the Garden and am preparing some more blocks....

This is some of what I have done to date..... mostly using up my Tilda scraps ...

Righto, Gotto Go.....  sorry to bring up boring stuff but I need to get the laundry off the line.... after guest sheets and towels.....

Have a lovely weekend.....xx

Not much sewing.....

WE had a lovely few days at the coast, the water was perfect and the boys (big and little) spent a lot of time playing in the water.....  I even had a couple though I am too scared to go out as far as them ....

Not much sewing time at all.... board games and cards were taught and now I am getting thoroughly thrashed by youngsters...

I have sewn a few pies, easy transportable project as you know and I can pick it up and do 10 minutes when there is a break....

This last week at home I have been doing a little bit of crochet in the evenings.... to be honest I'm too tired to do much more.... Young people move so much!!!

They are lovely boys, so active and chatting.  Son has been great and now my shower is fixed, new lights are installed in the shed and the lawn has been mowed.

Before they came I did get a quilt of mine quilted..... I did large ripples to give texture.... now it needs binding of course....

Righto, Gotta Go... boys are back from their morning walk and will be requiring some food...

Have a lovely weekend.....

April begins.....

One quarter of the way through the year already..... and finally it feels like Autumn has begun.  I have to say I feel a bit cheated that March was so unusually summery....

I ordered a large metreage of 'oregano' coloured linen cotton blend for my Sashiko style project.  I have a large amount of these threads (from south america hand dyed by a community project - made really for weaving but I am using them for this project).  Although I am using a Sashiko book I say it will be that Style as I am not going traditional as you can see.  Each block is only 4" so they will be rather fun to do.....

This is as far as I have got so far... chose 7 colours to use.... now it's packed away for when I need some hand sewing....

I got a little kit at a destash for $5 so I made it up.....

Not very big, a bit fiddly to do....

... not sure how useful it will be.... could fit into the bottom of a bag when I to sewing....

This is the little pattern that came with it....

I have done a bit more of my Civil War Bride side borders..... there is still lots of leaves, some butterflies and flowers to add.....

One more pair of mini Hexagons stitched for Field Journal.....

There has been delays in getting the last couple of stitcheries and threads (still waiting for January and February) and I still have a bit of catch up to do but I have started thinking about finishing it up...

The BOM comes with 6" squares of Liberty lawn and although I do think the pattern is very pretty I have decided to go more low volume.  I had a bunch of fabrics waiting in my stash for use and yesterday I bought 3 more colours to add to it.  This is my final choices.

Again... kitted up and put away for another day but I do like a plan....

Family is visiting from Victoria over Easter school holidays (which involves some beach time) so I will be taking a bit of time out from blogging ....  doubt I will get much sewing done to show anyway....

Have a lovely Easter holiday.....

Righto, Gotto Go.... spare beds to make up....
