Hexie Fever????

To start with I'd like us to all spare a thought for those many people in USA who have experienced vicious and frightening storms, floods, fires etc
we seem to be taking turns in these disasters
my thoughts and prayers are with you

Just in time I have finished my Christmas goodies for Allie-Oops Sweet Happy Life this month
(I love saying that blog name - Allie-Oops Sweet Happy Life - can't help but bring a smile!)

they are actually UFO's from last Christmas's plans ...... so I feel doubly happy these are done.... and they are pretty cute too!

What is it about little piles that is so appealing?

and now my little project box is empty again

Started with a little stitchery.... the hexi needs to have enough at the edge to allow for the binding... ....otherwise just make it any size you like.....

I traced my picture then added a piece of Pellon on the back -
to stabilize and give a little bit of padding
(well - I have padding why shouldn't my stitching!)

If doing itty bitty little hexies it will be easier to cut the shape after stitching
... mine are about 5" from point to opposite point......

Cut the backing and binding hexie about 3/4" larger than the little stitchery one
This could be larger... or smaller - depending on how deep you want your binding to be

... wrong sides together.....
fold and pin the backing/binding over to the front of the stitchery

fold.... pin.... fold.... pin ...
....sing song singalong......

stitch..... of course hand stitching is allowed and encouraged as much as machine stitching

display, photograph, blog, accept compliments, enjoy ..........

I am undecided about decorations (in which case I will add a little hanging thread doolittle)
or coasters (in which case I will freak out if someone spills on them)

........ reward yourself with a snack ...........

these are biscuits widget and I made over Easter... stars for Easter???
.... well, I'm not about to argue with an almost 2 year old......

I'm going over HERE to see what other Christmas goodies have been made - there is always so much inspiration I know my project box is going to have more in very soon!

.... and that..... was the long weekend....

Thank you so much for all the wonderful congratulatory messages.... how special are blog friends?

We are still so excited about having little "Maddy" in our lives.... and I have had two video links and seen her peeping at us and listen to her little hiccups.... just too cute....  too far away..... but love can travel great distances I find..... and technology is wonderful too....

This Easter weekend went so fast - did yours?  The little widget came to stay with us - he has never been for so many nights away from his mum and he was such a pleasure..... and sooooo much fun... and he helped such a lot in the garden..... He idolises Pops so just followed and copied everything Hubz did....

I think I am the meanest Nana in the whole world though and didn't even get him ONE Easter Egg... his mom sent one in his suitcase and that was it for him...... as a result I didn't have a hyperactive toddler feeling sick from too much chocolate... no fights and no tantrums... wonderful.... and he didn't even notice.... I may not get away with that next year though!!  But it will be a story he can relate to excuse his behavour as a troubled teenager...

Lots done in the garden ........ pulling out dead bushes, cutting down unwanted volunteer trees and pulling out unwanted volunteer weeds..... chop chop, snip snip, mow mow.....

The blocks have all gone together for the Wiscasset Layer Cake:

I used a Moda Bake Shop pattern - Topsy Turvy Quilt but I used all the blocks instead of only 30 so it is quite a large quilt...... good size for a double bed....

and an unco-operative model...... sigh...

Some time ago I asked my talented Sister-In-Law to draw me up some pictures for a little project I want to do..... these are a couple of blocks I have stitched up with her initial drawings.....

It is passed the 25th and I haven't got a Christmas Item finished and I have not been ready for Tuesday Treasure either
TUT TUT

Easter and ANZAC - both holidays are a time when we acknowledge and pay respect to people who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us - special

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend - I did

Tuesday Treasure and a Finish

Melody is our wonderful hostess of Tuesday Treasure.... and you can link up HERE - or just have a read and meet some other people.....

Now you all know I am fond of lizards...... this includes chameleons....

so I was delighted when I was this little fella came to live with me
(gift from favoured MIL)

I'm sorry the pictures are a bit blurry - I fail at close-ups
(I promise it is not because of wine!)

The top of the container is about 4" so he's quite a dinky little chap

open up and there is more.....

and more

hand made with fine wire and beads....

the wire has started rusting a bit so I am not using them for anything but decor....
and Widget can play with them ...

.... and this is the bag I have now finished using the stitcheries from HERE

this bag is 6" square

and here it is folded out

the pocket reverses in folding
It actually was supposed to have the 'Just for You' on the outside of the little bag....
~ next time I'll get it right! ~

Another UFO from out the cupboard.... yay

G'day
