Tuesday Treasure

Over 10 years ago I tasted freshly made pasta.... and fell in love ....

I even went to a demonstration and watched it being made.....

Looked quite scary really and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a pasta machine (around $45.... that's half a quilt!!)
and discover I couldn't... or hated the extra time it took.....

A few weeks ago I saw some of sale for $12.... (that's 2 fat quarters) so I bought one.... for that price I don't mind if I only try it once.....

I love conquering my fears...... especially when it is linked to food....

My first go was terrible... sticky and yucky and I made far too much which went into the bin...... lots of video's on YouTube and now I can do it..... 100g flour, 1 egg.... just the right amount for Hubz and I..... served with a sprinkle of olive oil, cherry tomatoes, fetta cheese and home made pesto.........

From start to finish in half an hour................

............ mmm........ guess what we'll have tonight...

Melody has some fantastic tea cosies today.... pop by HERE to see them and treasures others have found

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to admit to stitching being a treasure of mine too.....
And the first of the Birdie stitcheries blocks is done.....
6 strands which I haven't done before.....
I think I'm in love......
Thanks to Little Miss Shabby for sharing these very cute designs and quilt idea...
Have you something you treasure to share?
Thanks so much for playing along today. I love the taste of fresh pasta but have never tried to make it. Your Birdie Stitches block is delightful.
The pasta looks delicious! Love your Birdie block too. I've never embroidered with six strands. I would think it would be hard to do.
Hello Fiona,
Congrats on your pasta machine purchase. Love how you equate things to how many fat quarters. Many many years ago I wanted one to but they were very expensive then,a whole quilts worth. One day I saw a childs one in the toy shop. Thought it was a great way to try one. It worked,the neighbours went and bought one to. The kids had great fun with it. I actually found the recipe book the other day so will have to give it a go again.
Love the stitchery.
Happy days.
Wow! You look like and expert pasta maker. I have tried it and I must say it is not one of my favourite things to do. You make it sound so easy. I love your stitchery. I must print out some of the BoMs I am collecting and try them.
I love home made pasta too, we've even taken the machine on family holidays. Great fun and now the whole family knows how to make it!
I have one of those, somewhere, lol.
I have used it though, I love fresh pasta and it really makes good soup noodles, much better tasting than pasty store noodles.
My 80yo friend learned to make fresh pasta from her Italian mother-in-law - she doesn't use a pasta machine, she uses a sharp knife! And it's wonderful. Enjoy it! Love your stitchery, it's beautiful!
We can't have pasta here, but I do love it!!
Your birdie stitches look good. What did you think of the six strands? I may still go with two but not sure. Of course I haven't started on it yet. I am slow about that stuff!
You make it sound easy to make fresh pasta, maybe I'll give it a try. Mistakes can always be fed to the chickens at my house- LOL.
