Second week of May

Another busy week.... today is a pyjama day and I am tidying up half finished bits I started..

My finish this week is my new pink linen dress.  I had started this at the garment workshop with April but only did part of the bodice.... so the rest is done now.  It was 6 inches longer but that looked too much like a nightie...  I'm happy with it now.....

A friend has a dress in this pattern and April made up a pattern from the dress for me...  the linen should soften a bit with washing and wearing....

This week I sewed up my two Neighbourhood blocks...... (sewing along with Susan

the first two streets are sewn together.... that's half way through...

Floral Funners (Brisbane group) these sections are sewn together.... up to date on this...

Leaders and enders whilst I was sewing these means there are four new scrappy stars done...

... and for hand work this week I pulled out my faithful, endlessly patient Sashiko 365 and have these 5 blocks....

... and now the first 100 are done!!!

- looks a bit wishy washy in the pictures, the detail is only really noticeable close up....

I really need to pay this more attention ... they are not hard to do, I just get easily distracted....

Crochet has been done, and some applique work...

Widget turned 16!  Went straight off to get his L plates and managed 2 hours of driving in the first 24 hours including in pouring rain... and he got a Jeep.. a real Jeep.  A very sweet (but sad) story, The jeep was owned by an aunt (on his dad's side) and they had a very close fond connection.  The aunty passed suddenly and the family kept the Jeep for him.  Yesterday the other aunt and partner with 3 children drove it down all the way from Gladstone (400km) and surprised him with it..... it's a very special first car.  His gift from us was a couple of professional driving lessons.

Righto, Gotto Go.... I need to draw out the next lot of sashiko blocks....  have a lovely rest of the weekend....

It sure was a busy week. Look at all that work. Love the pink dress. You look great in pink. Love the flower on the side of the house, and do I dare say under the flag? It looks like a flag to me, anywho! Those blocks are turning into a lovely little village. Love the scrappy stars. I am so impressed by all your Sashiko blocks. Your stitches are so perfect in the last one done. I do agree; they look better up close. How did Widget turned 16 already? Such a beautiful story about the Jeep. There's a song about that. If my memory serves me right it's called: I drive your truck. Enjoy! ;^)

What a special gift for the Widget. He’ll really look after the Aunts Jeep.

Your dress turned out beautiful. I also think the length is a good thing.
Linen is wonderful to wear, and the fabric will be even softer. You'll love it.
Your sashiko blocks are great. Congratulations on your first 100. It's going to be fantastic. I'm already looking forward to it.
I like the star blocks too, and the houses yes :-)) Best wishes to you.
Happy week.
