First week of May

Another block towards my Caswell quilt is done...

So that is 9/30 blocks done (if I do them all)

This week I had my second Shingles vaccination...... and on the next day I felt really foul so I stayed quiet at home and did a bit of embroidery....

I managed to finish this flower in between naps and tea .....

Feeling much better but for the ache in the arm and a second flower is done, I am up to date (until tonight when the next one drops!), although there is still quite a bit of the vine still to do...

I had my garment sewing day on Sunday and finished off making a shirt for Hubz.... our tutor April drew up the pattern for me from one of his favourite shirts

It's a blue denim colour made in a poplin

My mistake was putting the buttons and buttonholes on the wrong sides! Duh.... He's a good sport and still wore in proudly when we went into town!

I even put a label on it!!! haha

April (our tutor) helped me make alterations to this jacket pattern (my bust and butt fit different sizes and the armhole was too tight).  So I have made up my fake one and the fit is good so next month I hope to be working on this jacket which I am making from this quilt (made for daughter 15 years ago but she likes different colours now so it's going to be chopped up for me)

I did do some quilting and binding on this very patient quilt from long ago ....

This one is from a pattern by the late Rosalie Decker and is called Flowerville - made in Tilda fabrics and I think it is so lovely and pretty.....

I had some pretty backing leftovers I could join to make it fit

I quilted the backgrounds differently, wriggles for the pink and cross hatch for that yummy mushroom colour

Lots of little dresden plate pieces go round the different embroideries...

I did love doing this one.... took me too long to finish off due to other distractions!!

.... of course a new crochet blanket has been started for the evenings.  I was going to make a cot blanket but this lovely soft chenille type yarn has some bits of bling in it and I am finding little pieces all around my house.... it won't do for a baby blanket so I am making a bigger one....  pink, white and grey.... (you can spot a few shiny pieces in the picture)

That's my lot for the week, seems like lots but mostly it was just finishing off things that had been started  last month...

Have a lovely weekend, it's Mothers Day here so BBQ lunch for me with dessert by DD

Righto, Gotto Go......xx

Beautiful Caswell block to add to the others.
Sorry you were unwell after your jab.
Bet you’re caught up with your blackwork now.
Pretty quilt you’ve finished and the crocheted blanket will be nice and cosy.
Great shirt you made hubby and I guess you’re used to making blouses for yourself so easy to pop buttons and buttonholes on wrong side.😉

Caswell is looking lovely Fiona. I adore that Flowerville quilt - I have that pattern but that looks like A LOT of work. Just love it in the Tildas too. Your new blanket is lovely - yes I can see the sparkly bits. Have a lovely Mothers Day Fiona. xx

Not good to have such a reaction to the vaccine Fiona, hope the arm is good now. You are working on lots of beautiful projects. Hubbies shirt looks great. Looking forward to your quilted jacket.

I think I would need to copy an existing shirt if I had to make one for a bloke! LOL...nit likely.
Coats from quilts seem to be the rage at the moment....not likely to happen here...just not cold enough often enough to be worthwhile. Flowerville looks lovely....I do like Rosalies patterns

Great work o the shirt and good luck with the jacket. Lots to do!
Lovely to see a finish on the Rosalie quilt. That is pretty.
Gorgeous colour combo with your crochet. Perfect for the evenings.

Flowerville is a real beauty! I love it, such a great mix of embroidery and Dresdens and beautiful colours.
Your Caswell blocks look so lovely all together, another long term project but it will be worth it. Well done with the shirt, I am glad he liked it and wore it. Good luck with the jacket. I have fabric under the bed that is waiting for a jacket pattern......
Have a lovely week. xx

The Caswell blocks are so pretty all together. I love that the newest block has red and blue flowers. It matches well with the others. The embroidery flowers are so intricate. I don't know how you can keep track of where you're at in the pattern. Experience I guess. Buttons on the wrong side. Well, you won't be the last one to make that mistake. It's such a silly thing too, men to the right; women to the left. But do you know why it is that way? Love the Flowerville quilt. Would love to live there too. Good luck with the quilted jacket. Happy Mother's Day! ;^)

Those Dresden blocks are beautiful, and so are your Caswell blocks. The blackwork flowers look so delicate. Hope you're all better now, sometimes wonder if the vaccines are the best thing?

As always, your projects are wonderful. I really love that jacket pattern and the old quilt you are using to make it.

What a good week, other than the shingles shot. It’s good to finally profess the Flowerville quilt and you are going great guns with your garment sewing.
