Third Week of November

So we have passed the 6 weeks till Christmas date and I am still pretending it's not happening.... Grinch is out stalking!!! 😂😂😂

This week I have started making lists and going through projects - they are even more scary than the imminent arrival of Christmas!

But I did find this quilt that I finished off earlier this year and put it back in the cupboard - I don't think I put it on my blog - it certainly wasn't in any of my lists!!!

I did overall ribbon quilting - a favourite of mine for all over quilting ......

The backing was pieced with matching fabrics...

I used left over fabrics from a previous quilt and bought in the plain teal ....

Star Pop is a quilt pattern by Emily Dennis and Quilty Love.  I've use mine a few times.

So that's in a bag to go off next month...... there are others I found that just need the binding sewn down.... so I will be doing a lot of that!

I tried out my wrap around dress pattern...... a practice one using a doona cover, which matches my reuse ethos but I'm not sure I like the light top and large design bottom on me...  but it will be a useful round the house dress on warm days....

On Tuesday at Club I framed a bunch of hexagons.....

We had a couple of cooler evenings and wet days so I sat with a quilt on my lap and did this binding.....

I am not a fan of EPP but am a fan of the EPP quilts so was determined to have at least one!

Took me ages .... I have quite a few of the pieces left over so I will do something more with them...

A close up of the quilting.... just in from all the ditches.....

Apparently the design name is Urban City.

Righto, Gotto Go.... I'll go and choose another binding to do...

Have a lovely weekend....

Second Week of April

Another busy week and I end up feeling pleased that I actually fitted in a grocery shop!  But happy kind of busy I need to say, a lot of sewing with friends...

I had a trip to Warwick last week to a Patchwork shop having a closing down sale (the owners are retiring) and a few background fabrics were purchased but basically it was a fun day out with friends and included a yummy lunch.

This week has been quilt group, machine sewing at my place, embroidery group ....

I have all my Blessings blocks prepared (except for the last one which can only be done when the others are together) and I started the machine blanket stitch around the edge at my machine sewing day.  Slow going.

Quilt group saw 2 more of these hexagon flowers put together....

I finally finished off another group of Sashiko blocks .....

I quilted this quilt.... I used fabrics from Quilt club Community Quilts but did the piecing, quilting and binding.

The pattern is Star Pop by Quilty Love which I have used for myself a couple of times before.

The quilting was ribbon and stars.  Soft and non fussy.  It's a very bright quilt!

... and one more hexagon flower done at Embroidery group....

Some blocks have been crocheted and some knitting done for KOGO, and a bit of needleturn for Caswell...

.... and that was my week......

Days and nights are cooler, thank goodness.  Am enjoying reading the blogs and seeing what others are up to.... always new ideas....

Take care, have a lovely weekend and I hope you get some time doing something you love... xx

First week of December.....

It's really hard to believe it is already a week into December....

Hand made ornies have been received...  I haven't put my tree up this year but I so love hand made ornies so these will add to my collection...... (grinch (from Michelle) is not handmade but he makes me laugh with his patchwork bag) The angel arrived today from Susan, the others are from Tuesday sewing girls...

Today I cut up Field Journal into hexagons for self framing - I have been procrastinating doing this but want to have it all ready for next year ....

Hubz has been trying to do this 2000 piece jigsaw! Apollo the cat is never interested in lying on the table unless there is a jigsaw....

I finished commitments so put this quilt on the frame... a ribbon meander which is quick but also makes it soft and looks pretty....  I used a quite bold orange thread.....

I was given a partially made quilt pack.... the EPP had all been done (by a friend who has passed away) and most appliqued to the background.  I had 3 hearts to applique then I found sashing and borders in my stash which is why it is a bit scrappy but I'm happy with it....  Sadly there wasn't enough final border to do mitred corners which would have been nice but then I would have had to fiddle to make the lines meet properly....  Robyn's stitching was very very neat ....  This quilt is about 43" square - will be quite a nice wallhanging.  I was so pleased with finding that pink sashing which I was able to fussy cut with minimal waste ... pity there wasn't more....

I did the binding (all by machine) and now StarPop is a finish (StarPop designed by Quilty Love).  I've made it before and I will make it again....

Some of the Tuesday girls are going to do a UFO challenge next year..... number the UFO's and each month someone will draw a number... we work on that number.  I got the idea from Sunday Stitchers in Brisbane (thanks ladies).

I'm supposed to be coordinating it but will be away till late January so my list is prepared.....

I love this notepad!

Meanwhile handwork has been doing a few more Sashiko style blocks....

I made white Rocky Road to take to sewing on Tuesday.....  I love this mix...

1 bar white chocolate
1 cup mini marshmallows
1 cup pistachio nuts
1 cup cranberries

Melt chocolate and pour in the rest... mix and pour into baking paper lined container to set in the fridge ...

Easy Peasy Yummy Scrummy..... though I think I will add coconut flakes too next time....

Righto, Gotto Go.... I will be taking a break from blogging but will read and comment when I can .... may even do an odd blog post too... Daughter and Grandson are looking after 'their' cat and our house - great to have them here.  One bag is packed ..... fly out very early Sunday morning.....  half past 12 early!   Means that we leave on the 10th, fly 24 hours and land on the 10th....

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas break... xx

Using up leftovers.....

This weekend I played with some left over fabrics .....

I made this cute hedgehog quilt in 2018 for youngest grandiegirl who was going to visit us and needed a big bed quilt... Pattern by Melly and Me called Happy Hedgehogs.

Michelle had gifted me some very sweet hedgehog fabric which you can see more clearly here....

and I had some of Emma Jean Jansen "Eureka" fabric which I used for the big flowers and backgrounds.

I never did take a picture of the finished quilt but it lives in the UK now where we have spotted real life hedgehogs (sniffle sniffle)

Anyway, as you know I like to use up as much of my precious favourite fabrics as I can.  I first saw Star Pop on Raewyn's blog.

Star Pop is by Emily Dennis

Chopped up the left over fabrics, purchased some plain fabric for the stars and this weekend I got to sew sew sew.  I made the small throw size (42 blocks required) which finishes at 60 x 52".   I think I will used this pattern again....

I'm leaving it at that size ... binding is made and ready with it....

Righto, Gotto Go..... today I am going to try and tame some little scraps .... that should be a challenge

Have a great weekend.......
