First week of July

FNWF on Friday thanks to Cheryll...

I did a bit of orange peel blocks and then worked on my crochet scarf..... I am about half way through now - have to use the pattern still for every row and it's a bit wobbly but fun....

The Blessings top is done, that pink border is all scallops so that took the most time for the border.... machine blanket stitched....
I will keep a look out for a suitable backing - but meantime it is waiting patiently....

This month's UFO is my Quilt As You Go blocks that I did as part of my Scrap Challenge last year .... but I gave up after 9 colours...

I have made them into 3 runners.... Quilt club sends off "Bed Brighteners' to some care places just to cheer up the rooms so I decided these could go there.

they were done as a monthly quilting challenge and each block is quilted differently and quite heavily - so wouldn't have been a snuggly quilt (in my opinion)

The yellow block was incorrect, so made a central piece (you can see the corners face differently to others).  I actually really like the block and think one day I will make a quilt of it...

Some more KOGO squares have been crocheted.  My eyes have been very tired lately, however the suggestion for eye drops and some new glasses have helped a lot!  I was surprised at how much I needed stronger lenses....

Hubby enjoys tinkling in his office with models for his time out at home and has just finished this Pirate Ship

It's been going for about 3 years, repairs, painting, gluing, knotting

There is so much detail and really fiddly work.  A canon in each of those port holes ...

All those 'ropes' needing knots and cogs....

55 cm long .... I love looking at all the detail....

Now he is searching for another challenge...

Righto, Gotto Go, time for another coffee....  have a lovely week everyone....x

Third Week of June

On the way to half the year done... and I can't say I have done half the projects I wanted to do!!

This weeks crafting has included sewing face details......

I did these by hand embroidery

Satin stitch and back stitch....

It does add some character to the faces....

Tuesday sewing I continued with sewing up hexagon flowers with Field Journal .....

5 more to go before I need to make the joining and border ones....

I put together the blocks for Blessings.... they had to be joined before adding the angel on top ... so that was done and she was blanket stitched around....

There is still a border to go which has a scalloped edge which will be blanket stitched and added on.

Happy with the progress this week... some crochet has been hooked - the blanket and the scarf are growing....

I do hope you have a lovely weekend.....xx

Second Week of June....

A busy but enjoyable week....

I had 4 full days at home.... and they were cold and windy so of course the most sensible thing was to sit inside and sew....

My neighbour has had a little winter baby girl so I pulled out my flannel fabric and made a couple of little quilts .... not pieced but flannel both sides, quilted and bound .....

Tuesday girls saw me sewing a couple more Field Journal hexagons....

The pile of sets is slowly coming down....

and a couple of Sashiko style blocks were done..... I'm at 50/365!! A way to go still!

Wednesday I had machine sewing here at our house, fire was lit and kettle boiled all day!

I continued with blanket stitching these Blessing blocks.... some of them are completed with that part and now I just need to hand stitch eyes and faces etc...

Marina has once again distracted me.... and I have started this scarf - a fun new crochet design for me using up some 4 ply sock wool

I am continuing with a few rows of the baby blanket but it's nothing new to see....

Righto, Gotto Go - I have kept my little machine (that does blanket stitch) out so I can do a bit more of that over the next few days .....

Second Week of April

Another busy week and I end up feeling pleased that I actually fitted in a grocery shop!  But happy kind of busy I need to say, a lot of sewing with friends...

I had a trip to Warwick last week to a Patchwork shop having a closing down sale (the owners are retiring) and a few background fabrics were purchased but basically it was a fun day out with friends and included a yummy lunch.

This week has been quilt group, machine sewing at my place, embroidery group ....

I have all my Blessings blocks prepared (except for the last one which can only be done when the others are together) and I started the machine blanket stitch around the edge at my machine sewing day.  Slow going.

Quilt group saw 2 more of these hexagon flowers put together....

I finally finished off another group of Sashiko blocks .....

I quilted this quilt.... I used fabrics from Quilt club Community Quilts but did the piecing, quilting and binding.

The pattern is Star Pop by Quilty Love which I have used for myself a couple of times before.

The quilting was ribbon and stars.  Soft and non fussy.  It's a very bright quilt!

... and one more hexagon flower done at Embroidery group....

Some blocks have been crocheted and some knitting done for KOGO, and a bit of needleturn for Caswell...

.... and that was my week......

Days and nights are cooler, thank goodness.  Am enjoying reading the blogs and seeing what others are up to.... always new ideas....

Take care, have a lovely weekend and I hope you get some time doing something you love... xx

First week of April ....

This week nearly sneaked away without a blogpost!

Another hexagon flower has been put together.....

... and I hand-quilted then bound this little mini.  The hearts are designed by Meg at CrabAppleHill and were a free stitchalong for February - embroidery month.  I sewed along with a few of the Brisbane stitchers and its been fun seeing the different versions...

This  will fit in my mini stand.... or on the wall....

A couple more blocks for the Blessings quilt have been prepped up....

Whilst cleaning up I found these little wool penguin jumpers I knitted up a few years ago.  I had started them to be used for the Fairy Penguins on Philip Island when they need a bit of help but then the organisation said they didn't need any more.  Anyway I see on the website they are taking some in to add on to plushy toys so I will send them off.  Rather a sweet idea and they are very very cute little penguins (even if they didn't bother to appear when we went and sat in the hail and rain and cold to see them)

Hubz had a birthday on Easter Sunday so I baked a cake and friends and family came over...

We also went to Eclipse light show which was great fun ....

I quilted and bound the blue flannel rail-fence quilt....

An overall fairly open quilting...

The backing was pieced with left over flannel ......

the quilting shows better on the plain areas...

It's gone into the cupboard to go off to Melbourne in due course..... where it gets cold in Winter and this will be nice and snug....

Righto, Gotto Go.... I have another block for Caswell on the go and would like to get a few leaves on tonight...  have a lovely weekend...x
