Last weekend we had a game to watch.... it was cold and we were lucky to find a parking spot with a great view (though I thought the Hubz could have got out and cleaned the windscreen for me!) (Widget is Number 4) They won the game ....
Trail Mix is a finish!!! I do love it ....
I did a flange binding... which means it is all done by machine so quicker than hand sewing it down...
The backing is very bright..... but there are some bright blue blocks in the quilt so I'm happy with it. Here you can see my hook swirly quilting....
Company at appointment meant I made a start on my shawl/scarf. I do need a bit of concentration at the moment whilst I get the hang of the pattern...
They were so nicely presented....
and inside a little kit to make up a needlecase.... the base is already sewn and the picture drawn - all the rest provided. I thought it was such a nice touch ...
... and the background wiggly texture. I just love the background fabric and wish I had more in different shades.... I bought it ages ago....
... and this is the quilt I am making. (Tilda provide loads of free patterns on their web page and this one came with their recent range "Something Blue"....

Trail mix finished up beautifully. What a cute wee gift, very thoughtful. Those Christmas stitcheries look like fun.
Lovely post Fiona. Love, love Trailmix - it turned out so great. I think that was a wonderful gesture of your embroidery group to give you little bags with kits in. So sweet. That Tilda pattern will be wonderful once you put your magic touch on it. Love the verse at the end - very true!
You are quilting the owls already!!! Love Trail Mix - the border is perfect, a lovely balance of colour all over. The little needlecase was certainly a very thoughtful gift from your guild and the little Christmas embroideries are great. Well done Widget. xx
I am pleased you could stay in the car when watching the match. Sometimes it can be very cold outside.
That is a lovely finish to Trailmix. Such a lot of work. I like the bright blue backing.
Great detail on that owl block you have shown.
And good luck with your Tilda project!
Love the blue jars....they put me in mind of a quilt which was popular several years ago with different size jars, all blue and white, but I think they were empty of flowers. I think.
Your "Trail Mix" quilt came out so beautifully, Fiona;))) I made a similar one all in blues and shirtings for my Dad's grieving quilt after he passed...he wore light blue shirts and gray suits for his working life...Love the scrappiness in yours...hugs, Julierose
Congrats on finishing Trail Mix. It's a gorgeous one! The quilting reminds me of this @ symbol. Lovely done and a lovely gift on Embroidery Day. I too am in love with the print of the backing fabric for the owl quilt. Wow! Your newest project looks like fun. Enjoy! ;^)
Beautiful finish Fiona! interesting way you have finished the binding.
love the quilting on the owl, look forward to seeing the complete top. Great going with the stitcheries, I am on my last one!
And you know how I feel about those Tilda ginger jars.
We are such enablers!!
Trail Mix came up a treat and the owls are looking good. Have fun with those Tilda fabrics. I do like Bonnie Hunter’s saying. I think I must be 42 people as well.
Great post Fiona, your trail mix looks wonderful and I like the look of your new pattern. Enjoy the owls.
Congratulations on winning the game...
