At long last......

........ I got to give this quilt to it's owner......

I finished this quilt last year.....  but only recently did the label....

because it was a gift for my daughter and I gave to her on her 30th birthday

(which is really amazing because I am not much older than that!)

It all started by falling in love with these fabrics...

the centre block has a lot of applique (I did both machine and hand blanket stitch) and stemstitched leaves and added a border.....

then block borders .....

and another edge with more roses to applique.... each petal section needed stitching all the way around - I used my machine for the bigger petals and hand stitched the smaller middle pieces

stem stitching the stems and applique leaves between the roses and a final blue border

and I got to give it to her with a real hug.....

much to the relief of the rest of the family - apparently she has been moaning that everyone else has a quilt!!!

I finally stitched and added the label just before we left

The pattern is Chocolate and Roses by Ann Gadsby and it measures 56" square.... I loved doing the different components of applique, embroidery, piecing and quilting.....

Righto..... Gotto Go......... I want to renew acquaintance with my sewing machine!

Fiona - I am in love! It is such a wonderful quilt and the colours and fabrics are gorgeous. Made with such love, how could she not love it. How funny that you and your daughter are so close in age; I was only saying the other day how remarkable it was that a sweet young thing like myself should have an 18yo and a 17yo!!!
