Granny's Magic Mayonnaise

Making Baby Burp cloths...

towelling and backed with some nice soft muslin

My mum used to tell me that her mother-in-law would always change a recipe slightly if she gave it out - or leave something out so no-one could ever make it like she did.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I inherited my mum's genes and consider it a great compliment when someone asks for my recipe....
...  so due to popular request ....
(and with no changes to the original recipe!!)
Easy peasy to make (you know I only cook easy peasy)
it is a bit sweet.. so not to everyone's taste...
GRANNY'S MAGIC MAYONNAISE
1 tin condensed milk
2 egg yolks
1 tsp salt
2 tsp mustard (any will do - my favourite is 1 tsp of hot english, and 1 tsp of seeded)
1/2 cup white vinegar
1 cup oil (I used olive oil but any nice vegetable oil will do)
cayenne pepper (I like a hefty shake)
Put all in a bowl and whisk till it thickens.
Keep in fridge....
Nice with salad, nice with cold meats, nice to dip your toastie in...... I haven't eaten it straight out the jar but that's probably nice too!!
Linking up with Melody's Tuesday Treasure .....
I love my family and bloggiefriend favourite recipes - I have some others HERE - all easy peasy
The burp cloths are so cute...and I don't think a mom can have enough of those! The mayonnaise sounds very yummy, indeed. I'll have to get Jeff to make up some...he loves doing things like that, and I really enjoy a nice mayonnaise on my sandwiches! :o) Thanks for sharing your recipe!
XOXO,
Cyndi
The recipe is something very similar to the 'salad dressing' my mother used to make when I was a little kid. Thank you so much for sharing.
Have you ever made it with the homemade version of condensed milk??? you might be able to reduce the sweetness a little that way. I will besure to try it your way first, and use it with toasted tomatoe sandwiches.
