Progress ......

Shingles....

I am over them now but had my first dose the last few weeks.  Not nice.  And it's meant I have not been doing much commenting of blogs - my favourite part of blogland is the interaction.

At first I thought I had spider bites - which really made me cry that a spider (I am very scared of spiders - even tiny ones) might ravage me in my sleep - so it was actually a bit of a relief that it was shingles and a couple of weeks of gentility would ease it all.

(No pictures - lucky you!)

My small quilt is now a flimsy and in the queue to be quilted...

Some pretty fabric swatches I just cut into squares and gave them some sashing and corner stones.  I was thrilled to find some border fabric which was a perfect match and added a little blue peeper, and with which I will bind the quilt too.

It's simple, but sweet.

I've also been doing some of this Leanne Beasley design stitching - and actually made up a gift - but you can't see it until later this year!  I just hope I don't forget the safe place that I've put it????

Last year I made up a Sampler Quilt using Reproduction prints and I had quite a few left over so I have slowly been making up odd blocks with the pieces....

My design board is growing with them and soon I will be joining them up so this will become my backing for the sampler quilt.....

I am of course beginning to think it was a silly idea and taking up more time than I have but I know I will enjoy the two sided quilt - and I will have used up loads of left over pieces .....

And I have done the last of the blocks for The Splendid Sampler.... all 100 of them are done and half a dozen bonus blocks...

My sashing is chosen and I will be using some of the left overs from this quilt to make corner stones to go with it... It's all in soft and pretty and will be a totally different look to the other sampler quilt.

Righto, Gotto Go.... before I can cut sashing I need to press the fabric!

I'm so sorry to hear you have a case of the shingles. I've hear it is very painful. Sending prayers your way right now. Congratulations of getting all the 100 blocks of Splendid Sampler done. Love what's on your design board. Too bad it's the backing because it beautiful enough to be the front. It'll be like those 45's Face A and Face B. ;^)

You must REALLY hate spiders if you prefer shingles! :( Sounds awful, either way, so I'm very glad you're feeling better.

I love the term "peeper" for the thin inner border! Is that an Aussie saying, or a Fiona-made-it-up word?

Oh, Fiona - I do sympathise, having had shingles several years ago I know how awful it can be. I love all your sampler blocks, you will have two beautiful quilts from them!

I hope you are over the worst of those horrible shingles. You've been so brave throughout. The sampler blocks for the back of Sylvia will be amazing and I remain in love with your Splendid Sampler colour choices. How that year flew!

Oh you poor thing!!! You have been very busy despite it though... and I am glad too that it wasn't spiders, that would have been terrifying - no sleep = no quilting.... xx

So sorry to hear about the shingles - they are not fun! But despite being ill you appear to have been very busy sewing. I love the small quilt - so bright and pretty.

Definitely with ya on the spiders, but SHINGLES!!! My mum thought she'd die with them, I remember her walking the floor all night just crying. Couldn't lay down cuz it hurt too much. I'm so sorry you had to go through that!!!
I love your little colorful quilt, and those repro blocks are gorgeous - two-sided quilts are twice as nice! The fabrics for the Splendid Sampler blocks are sooooo pretty.

Poor you getting shingles. Let's hope that is the last of them. You've still been busy with needle and thread.

Sorry to hear you've had shingles - I got them recently too but not as bad a dose. Not nice. Your 2-sided quilt sounds like a fun idea - hope you stick at it, it will be truely unique! Well done on getting through all the SS blocks.. I do like your colour palette, you'll have such a pretty quilt. (I didn't even start one block although I chose some fabrics!) Your small quilt is extra fun. Such a lot going on at your place!
