Hello Hello....

This last week I have actually been quite busy with some quilting for others and as such I have not done much of my own sewing... however I wasn't going to pass on Tuesday block sewing with the girls - we got through a record number of sampler blocks in one day ...

(These are all 6" blocks based on Sylvia's Bridal Sampler by Jennifer Chiaverini)

Homework had been the handwork for the handles  for these tiny little baskets...

Stamp Baskets (32 pieces)

Here we are sewing at my place.... Christine is hard at work on the sewing machine and Lyn is hard at work at the ironing board....

I did this one Foundation Paper Pieced but the others worked it out normal piecing...

Album 1 (23 pieces)

Foundation Paper piecing for that crown part and then stitching with curves...

New York Beauty (18 pieces)

We changed the name for this one... in the book it is called Contrary Wife but I don't believe there is such a thing in our world....

Domestic Goddess (13 pieces)

This one seems to have so many different secondary patterns...

Friendship Quilt (21 pieces)

I got myself quite confused cutting these pieces, some have to be one way and then the other.....  and a little bit of homework handsewing for the stalk done beforehand....

Autumn Leaf (19 pieces)

So a record breaking 6 blocks and 126 pieces added to the count - here they are all together

Handwork homework is the applique for Lancaster Rose... I am doing mine blanket stitch with a single thread....

As I mentioned I have had quite a few 'customer' quilts this week which is wonderful.... I love being asked to play with other people's quilts (though I will always be nervous doing it I think)

I am ridiculously pleased with my cards I designed and had printed.. the background is some of my miniature quilting ... it feels so 'official'.....

This week is FNSI with Wendy.... sign up's are HERE.  I will be with other stitchers and keep going with some stitcheries....

FNSIButton

Oh ... and we got a contract on our house (still conditional) ... which means we better find somewhere to live.... so this next week will be crazy busy....  not much sewing but I'm not leaving out Tuesdays and Friday nights...

Righto, Gotto Go... realestate.com needs to be searched .....

Sampler Blocks.....

Tuesday Sewing Day with the girls added another 92 pieces of fabric to our sampler quilts....

Album 2 (23 pieces)

A lot of the time is spent cutting up these little pieces

Churndash (17 pieces)

.. the sides on these rosebuds are only 1" ....

Rosebud (28 pieces)

... 6 " blocks and they can get quite fiddly .....

Sickle (24 pieces)

.. so far we have done 25 out of the 140 blocks....

... starting to look like a quilt....

here are some catch up pictures of the 3 different styles.... it's very hard to get pictures that show off all the colours well...

I am learning quite a bit with regard the use of colours for contrasts and how placement of the colours highlights something different in the blocks

Susan and Dzintra are both also making these blocks ... pop over and see what they have done ... anybody else game to join in??????

For my handsewing in the evenings I have got back to my In My Garden stitcheries (Natalie Bird)

I'm working on them by colour rather than finishing a stitchery at a time so it's taking a while to have any done...

Righto, Gotto Go.... I have sampler blocks homework to do!!

Weekend fun....

A lovely way to start the weekend was sewing with friends..... I got to go to Friday night stitching at The Quilters Angel hosted by Marion, as well as be part of FNWF hosted by Cheryl...

(thank you both for a lovely evening)

I finally finished this block which I have been working on all week.... (Michelle gave me some tips for getting into those tight curves in the green leaves)

Indiana Rose (11 pieces)

One of the ladies who comes to stitching came bearing lovely stock that she and her man grow (thanks Sue in case you read this!) ..... fresh flowers do cheer up the place don't they.. and such a lovely scent in the evening ...

Mostly I am using scraps from a couple of previous quilts for this sampler quilt, so I did treat myself to a bit of fabric for the sampler whilst I was there ...

On Saturday Hubz and I went off to a local national park .... this is the stunning view

... we went for quite a long walk down and up through the forest... this is part of the Palm Tree area...

...looking up....

Palm Tree Creek was little more than a tricklye.. very dry for a rainforest...

After a 4km walk up and down hills we needed a treat (we shared!).....

another stunning view from the cafe we stopped at....

This morning I did my 'homework' for Sylvia's Sampler....

this one was sortof cheating as I still had strips from a Nine patch swap I did so I used them...

Nine patch (9 pieces ... surprise!!)

 This one was Foundation piecing....

Northwind (12 pieces)

So I have now sewn 322 pieces in the 21 blocks I have done for the sampler.... (heehee)

Righto, Gotto Go ..... chilling time....
