Flimsy done.....

Yippee, I have put my embroidered teacups and pots into a top... it will be a table topper once it is all together.

I have some more of the green that I put borders around the blocks which will be used for the binding...

Personally I feel the bold blocks take away from the dainty embroideries.... but I can live with that...

Anyway... I am now back to 13 unquilted flimsies in my cupboard as this one goes to join them ....

To celebrate I have started a new project.... circles.  I loved watching Sue do hers and then Michelle started one and I really didn't want to be left out! (I've picked out posts where they have shown theirs - just click on their names)  I have 3 batik charm packs collected over the years and I bought some prints that I like which contrast nicely

On our walky this week I noticed what looked like an unusual flower or leaves coming from the side of the bark....

... lots of little wiggly bugs with clever camouflage....

I didn't want to pick them up for a closer look ...

I am still struggling to do much quilting at a time in the heat.  I like using gloves as they give a good grip and therefore puts less pressure on my shoulders.  On projects that aren't too big a drop of Glycerine works well... just a drop rubbed in and allowed to dry and you can feel that bit of sticky....

Righto, Gotto Go.... I'm going to needing to use the gloves today

This weeks blocks.....

At the weekend Hubz and I had a little walk at a nearby park.... the clouds were all over ... but not bringing any rain unfortunately.....

This week's Dutch Treat block is a sail boat...

.... and 6 new blocks towards the Anthology quilt.....

.. and one towards Living the Dream quilt with the No Fuss Stitchalong....

My 10 minutes a day machine sewing continues ... sometimes it is spent preparing but now I have my 9 patch blocks done.....

... the next task is to make green and white squares to go around the border .... then I can start sewing the rows together.... it's getting there....

It's still hot here and I am struggling to quilt for very long .... so short bursts and then something to cool down... like doing a blog post in front of the air conditioner!

Righto, Gotto Go....  I can go back and do a little more now....

a bit of this ... and a bit of that.....

I have continued with doing a bit of my tea quilt each day....

I cut my peepers and pressed them in half....

... and added them to each of the blocks.....

some of the teapots now have their spouts covered....

favourite ones do seem to get chipped!!! ....

... and 2 1/2 strips cut and ready to sew and slice so they become 9 patches....

I go to a monthly Thursday morning group and these sewing mice are my new project to take....  I didn't get a lot of stitching done, but I did get a bunch of threads I needed for it.... I could have adapted but it's so easy just doing what the pattern says - the hard work of deciding has already been done for me....

Friday Nights at The Quilters Angel gave me a chance to start on Flowerville.  I am doing each block in a variegated thread - so no changing of the colours in that one..

These will be long term projects ... I'm not going to rush either of them, but I like to have a range of different things on the go.... have you noticed????

Righto, Gotto Go... it's Monday again.... so work must happen....

I hope you all have an excellent week

10 minutes a day.....

Chookyblue set a goal for 10 minutes a day of sewing to work through projects..... Since I sew almost all day every day I thought it was a bit indulgent for me! haha....

During the day I do 'work quilting' (except for my scheduled group sewing times) and at night I do my own hand work whilst watching TV, chatting and even during Facetime calls to family..... (I put it down to having been a smoker and needing something to do with my hands!)

So that is why another 10 minutes of sewing time seems indulgent.... and then I realised this is the time I can set aside just for my UFO's - or other machine sewing of my own...

This last week the time has been spent finishing up using my beach huts blocks (well there are a few left)

I now have a bath mat and two tray mats (binding was machine sewed down so nice and quick) - I even used some huts on the backs -

Scrappy projects done and 3 more UFO finishes!

This next week I am going to use my time to work on my tea cups and pots....

here they are all trimmed and waiting for peepers to be added....

Meanwhile I have finished the January block for Holly Cottage (Michelle Ridgway design) Stitch-a-long.... you can see other peoples versions HERE....

... and I have put these one's into their row.....

Only one more block left for this - then time to put it all together!!!

By the way Sandi, who hosts the No Fuss Stitch-a-long has a new blog and is doing a give away with the most delightful needlebooks and pincushions....  Personally I don't want any body else to put their name in the hat but in the spirit of kindness the post is HERE....  they really are exquisite and perfect for popping into the 'pick up and go' project bag....

Righto, Gotto Go... off to work on those peepers before I start my work quilting for the day .....

Cushion and a Scrappy Beach scene....

My other cushion is now completed .... all they needed was the binding being done so the start of a New Year was a good time for a couple of quick finishes....

I have now made 3 cushions in the same sort of style, using up stitcheries from Rosalie Deckers Scandanavian Rose quilt  and some scraps from a French General range of fabrics...  I did need to purchase a bit of extra red for borders and bindings....

I'm very happy with them and they suit our sitting area well....

Last week I feel in love with another of Rosalie's designs.... this one is called Flowerville.  I was lucky enough to be asked by Marion to quilt one and whilst doing it fell in love with it....

The pattern and kit is from The Quilters Angel..... I don't even have to choose the colours etc this time....

It's very soft and pretty and a lovely gift to myself.....

Quite a lot of fiddly quilting in it.... but I think it shows off the stitcheries and the dresdens nicely enough...

I have progressed a bit on my beach hut scene.... by scribbling some 'sand' on the beach....

.. and adding some foam to the edge of the sea.....

Before I overdo things on this I'm going to put it aside until I'm ready to quilt it......

Righto, Gotto Go... there's all those little spare huts I'm going to make up ... a bathmat and a couple of tray cloths coming up......

Working on that UFO list......

I found another UFO ..... I did these cup and teapot stitcheries years ago.....  My list is so long....

I just need to make up a way to put them all together.... overthinking it...

In my defence (if I need one) I did finish this UFO.... just had the binding to do....

I also got half way through the binding of the other cushion - well to be honest I didn't but Kris did....that's what happens if you come to my house with no stitching to do... you do mine!!!  Haha.. we had an afternoon playdate....

I also worked on this UFO... 4 more blocks towards my Dutch Treat Quilt.... I've now done 130 of the 196 blocks..... and then there is the border!

I was gifted these beautiful cards this weekend.... a customer who collected her quilt.... I just love handmade cards.... so clever....

Some more stitcheries for Living the Dream....

I had quite a pile done so I made up some more strips and added them to my existing lot.... starting to look like a quilt now....

Another UFO is Quilt Block Anthology and us Tuesday girls did these 8 blocks this week....

All that good work deserves a new project doesn't it????

I quilted this one for The Quilters Angel this week (I'll show you what I did next time) and decided I would treat myself to the BOM (I've never done a BOM through a shop before).  Dear Rosie passed away around Christmas and this will make me think of her great talent and sweet nature whilst I stitch.  I am not hurrying on this project and it will be my take and go on Friday nights....

Righto, Gotto Go.... will finish the other half of the binding (thanks Kris for your help with my UFO finishing!!!)
