Where did the time go?

This last week has disappeared..... weather has cooled and it is really great to want to have a quilt on at night again....

The binding for postcards is finished … and it is labelled (I am not a good labeller but this is a gift one)

I sewed this with the No Fuss Stitch-a-long and I just love it.... I used flannels (front and back) for mine and it's lovely and warm....

A loose meander for quilting...…  YAY for a UFO finish

On Monday Hubz had business in Brisbane and dropped me off to have a playdate with Michelle, it's been a long time in betwixt playdates.

Michelle spoilt me with gifts.... a lovely covered coathanger and beautiful liberty fabric as well as some pretty silicone cream holders and of course one of her very special hand made cards (which will go in a frame)

I also got a ginormous bag of I spy fabrics... no escuse for not getting on and making it now!

There was also a rail for hanging quilts.... I need to get that up and find a good size quilt to go in it...

Being a road trip passenger I got another blue penguin jumper finished and the next one started.

with the cooler weather I pulled out a bag of wool that I had been gifted …. to find this label on it.... I guess it has been languishing a while.  I am going to use up these masculine colours and crochet squares to make Hubz a rug.. they are nice for on laps in winter....

Another pretty Field Journal picture has been stitched....

… but now I have put them away (very hard to do that) to work on this UFO stitchery.  All that there had been done a few years ago... preprinted stitchery designed by the late Rosalie Dekker.  It was a set for a quilt but I have been making individual items

I took it to sew at a friends house... but her cat was having none of it! I am allergic to cats (not badly just get itchy sneezy) so lucky I had some antihistamines in my bag... she was too sweet to ignore!

Big win this week!

In this fast paced world we live in... how is it that TP is a win??? hahaha...

A belated birthday present of these very pretty flowers have brightened up my home.

Righto, Gotto Go.... the morning light has risen and there is coffee to be drunk.....

January monthlies......

This month I have done this hand work for 1 Christmas Item A Month....

These are going to be little heart ornaments but I have decided to do the handsewing first then make the hearts later

Once they are prepared they don't take too much time to stitch up, so though I am not actually finishing an item each month I am making progress ...

Thanks to Narelle for hosting 1 Christmas Item A Month...

This month's WOOFA items were....

Garden Sunshine quilt....

I managed to get all the blocks together and sew the border on to make a flimsy.....

United Stitches.

These are the little hand-work blocks I am doing and this month I got 7 done.....

The other project I am working on is my tumblers … as leaders and enders so a bit of progress each month as I get any sewing done...

I have a nice pile of pairs … will still keep going and use up the light rose fabric which is going in between

Thanks to Cheryll for hosting WOOFA.....

My little mini quilt is finished.....

The hand quilting is pretty ordinary... but I'm learning.....

This quilts is Shoofly Sampler made from Quirky Little Quilts book by Sheryl Johnson.  I hope to make another of hers next year..

This time I added triangles at the corners to add a rod.... will see how effective it works

This week I purchased a quilting frame.... I will try it on a bigger quilt and see if that helps me get a better holding style and rhythm ...

Over this week Mr Postie dropped off some special ornaments...

From Michelle.....

From Maria.....

… from Shez...

Thank you so so much....

I really love the hand made ornaments and I have a lovely collection now.....

Widget is staying for a few days and so he put the tree together for me and we are slowly adding the handmade ornies …..

I am very late with doing mine so today whilst he made up a jigsaw I did my ornie envelopes....

I finished off another penguin jumper ….. now we have 5

Today I had a skin check at the doctors and as we went off in the car Widget was telling me about his thoughts on Santa being a fake.... (he is 10 now)

Well, I wanted an explanation about the ones that we see in the shops for photographs..... he was trying to tell me that they are a 'substitute' Santa....

"The ones in the store are prostitute Santa's"...…. well I was almost off the road ….

Still makes me laugh out loud.....

Righto, Gotto Go... my turn for a few ornies on the tree......

a few bits and pieces.....

I have had my blocks for Road Trip cut out and packed together for a while now.... (I take photographs for reference when I plan them) so my metimesewing at the machine has been working on these blocks this last week or so....

The fabrics are all flannels...

It's a great theme with all the postcards...

I do like a mixture of handwork and machine piecing....

The blocks don't take too long once all the pieces are cut ….

.. and now all the blocks are done....

Helen has hosted this No Fuss Stitchalong …..  it's always fun to see how others do theirs and the different fabrics chosen...

Being a passenger in a car has resulted in another penguin jumper... now there are 4.  I will keep going as I have a healthy stash of wool for them....

… and evening stitching has resulted in another block for Wings....  bird on a branch....

Righto, Gotto Go..... the day is started and there is heaps to get done....
