We worked on some more of Sylvia's Bridal Sampler yesterday...
The colours are just not true .. they look far more washed out than they really are
Anvil (14 pieces) |
Friendship Star (13 pieces) |
Diamond Friendship (5 pieces) |
Puss in the Corner (19 pieces) |
Wedding Ring 2 (19 pieces) |
instead of making templates (when these are needed) I traced onto freezer paper and then iron that on the fabric and cut around it... stops any slipping
Yankee Puzzle (16 pieces) |
These are my blocks together - total piece counts so far is 253 in 16 x 6" blocks
86 pieces today - 6 blocks |
Meanwhile I have finished the project with the foxes... a couple of people picked up I was making a bag....
... lots of treasure can fit in here....
This pattern is the Stable Bag by The Village Quilt Shop....
had to do piping, turning tubes and filling them with piping cord... and even cut my own dowelling and screwed in the eye screws (Hubz was out of town and I needed it straight away!)... lots of new techniques for me in this one.
Righto, Gotto Go... July deadlines to meet.....

Dear Fiona,
wonderful blocks, I am amazed how fast you are sewing.
The bag is great, I love it, a real space bag, looks wonderful. Was it very complicated to make?
Greetings,
Sylvia
Those bags have been popular for a long time, some ladies here have them and I recall some being made in the quilt group I belonged to long before I left the Big Smoke.......must be a reason! I hope Sylvia appreciates the blocks you are all making for her, she will have an ginormous quilt when they are done *grin*
Love the stable bag. They are great. Beautiful blocks. Hugs, xx
Your blocks look great, Fiona. Great job on the bag. I'm very impressed!
Fabulous blocks Fiona..
The Stable Bags looks really big and roomy.
well done all of you on all your blocks, they look amazing.
nifty idea using the freezer paper too.
Gorgeous bag and such cute fabrics and such a learning project.
good luck with your deadlines!
Gosh you've been so productive lately. Great blocks and the bag looks a good size.

Well done on the blocks they look so,good xxx
Your sampler blocks are looking great Fioina. so that's what that cute foxy fabric became. Very gorgeous bag I must say
You are on fire your bag looks fabulous - fit lots of goodies in there. Your Sylvia quilt is coming along and looks great.
gorgeous bag! What an unusual design. That seems like a hard way to do piping, having to shove floppy cording into a fabric tube!
Just loving your blocks, so many little pieces. Love the bag, very clever with all the piping and stuff

Good idea using the freezer paper instead of template plastic. Love your foxy bag. That pattern was awesome when I lived in Sydney...8 years ago....still is and one day I will make one too!
Oh Fiona you are going great guns here....love the blocks! A quick question....can I use freezer paper instead of doing foundation?
Hello Fiona,
I have come to the conclusion that you don't have the procrastination gene in your body. The blocks are amazing and as for that bag, love it.
Happy days.
Bev.
What a great bag that is Fiona - and your little blocks are coming along nicely. xx
How clever are you making that bag! A bit daunting to me. Love those blocks and the fabrics look great.
