Some sewing .....

Before we went away for the weekend I had made lots of these blocks of fabric from my blue scraps.....

I have started sewing yellow strips to the sides.... then for pressing and awaiting a machine sewing day with friends next week

I got cajolled into joining in a sweet little sewalong.... hosted by CrabApple Hill on facebook and instagram.... #crapapplesal  to commemorate a month of embroidery.

Each day a sweet little stitchery is done using different stitches.... she has not made them crazy challenging so it is achievable in a day (usually)

Being away I kept up with the stitcheries but not adding them to wadding and backing and doing the edges in blanket stitch......

They are up to date for the first week now...

Quite a few social media friends are doing it too and it's fun sewing together...

This morning I stitched up some more but I haven't taken pictures.... a stitching morning with Michelle which is always fun and goes too fast!

This afternoon I sewed up a couple more Schoolgirl Sampler blocks.... these are 4 1/2" and once I have cut the fabrics they don't take too long to do.... I am a couple of weeks behind so a fair bit of catching up to do....

I've had a happy time reading blogs and seeing what others are doing..... so much is tempting though.... it really does amaze me what gets made... such lovely things...

Righto, Gotto Go...... I think I'll have a cup of tea .... take care, keep creating .....

The Weekend....

Friday was FNWF hosted by Cheryll... thank you so much..

We were away from home.... my Christmas present from Hubby was a weekend away... but I didn't know where....

A couple of hours drive and we stopped off for a lovely view of the Glass house Mountains....

and a nice walk in Mary Cairncross Reserve....

lovely big trees and vines....

little creatures peering out of logs....

We saw at least half a dozen Pademelons...

lots of frogs and beetles as you can hear in the video... and the green cat bird... (not seen but heard) - not a sound one would want to hear alone at night in the forest!!!

I love this entrance to our B&B - the doors were done by a local woodcarver.... just gorgeous...

went out to a local pub for supper... what a great veiw as the sun went down....

I had to take a picture of the toilet roll holder!!!! (also done by the same carver as the doors)

Breakfast the next day out on the deck.....  quinoa porridge done in coconut milk and vanilla with fresh fruit, toasted nuts and coconut.... fresh squeezed juice.... soooooooo good.....

We went for a walk at the Maleny Botanic Garden and Bird Sanctuary....

Guineafowl roaming freely....

Big gardens and a good walk around up and down hills (my calves are still complaining)

You can picnic there (we didn't)

The bird aviaries were fun... but so busy... they were letting in so many people and we were being marched though.. disappointing....

but it was fun having this beautiful fellow sit on my shoulder....

they are amazing birds ....  Personally I am not a fan of caged birds and animals.... but these did have lovely big aviaries and it does mean we get a chance to see exotic birds....

Tibouchina's grew as huge trees in the town... looking just splendid....

After a very good pizza for lunch we went for another long walk... this time at the beach....

I only paddle and the water was so lovely and warm.....

The trip was 5 crochet squares, 2 scrubbie's and 3 dust cloths long....   (we spent our evening back at the B & B quietly relaxing and I knit on the car trips......)

I did do a little bit of stitching in the mornings.... but not much at all!

So Christmas is well and truly over now here.... it was a lovely treat

Righto, Gotto Go...back home where there is laundry to do, meals to cook and stitching to be done....

15 minutes a day....

I do a lot of hand sewing... at night in front of the TV after we have eaten... most evenings I get a couple of hours done ...

This week I have completed another block towards Civil War Bride....  it felt like I was never going to get through those leaves!!!

2 down..... 18 more and a big border to go....

I have scraps (and non scrap projects) that need machine sewing and that gets neglected due to other things during daylight hours.....

My blue scrap basket is out to play.... here she has made a bit of a mess next to my seat....

I am using inspiration from this book.....

Victoria uses smaller pieces and different shapes.....  I have to admit I have to kind of force myself not to cut everything I am using into nice regular shapes.....

Making a piece of fabric from scraps then chopping it up to shapes I want.....

... as you can see I am trying to learn to accept odd shapes!!!

I will make up these blocks and border the two long sides in the yellow and then join them together

I am hoping this will make a usable quilt that doesn't look too bad....

I certainly don't manage 15 minutes each day but some days I take more!!  It is easy to lose track of time when the machine comes out????

This week is Friday Night with Friends... hosted by Cheryll..... anyone can join.. just pop over HERE to sign up and do a post over the weekend showing what you crafted.....

Righto, Gotto Go.... I am doing my 15 minutes today!!  after coffee of course!

WOOFA time ....

In my January fervour I finished up 4 hanging over projects..... so they all count towards WOOFA ....

First off was the crochet blanket which just needed a couple of rounds left to do....

Then the pineapple quilt which just needed the binding sewn on....

and two little baby quilts which also needed their binding on....

the little one don't take too long, hand sewn down in front of the TV at night...

Thanks to Cheryll for her encouragement to take out projects and do a bit of work on them.....

So 4 finishes.... I guess that means 4 new projects is acceptable too?????

Schoolgirl Sampler got 6 more blocks this week....

... and I have started adding sashing and joining up the blocks into strips....

The needleturn on Civil War Bride is going slowly... but I have started adding some stems to the leaves....

We did go out for a night.....

to watch Big Bash cricket..... our team in the teal ... Brisbane Heat

Flames for any good efforts by the home team.....

... watched the moon coming up over the stadium....

Very noisy and crowded....

and the next day some time at South Bank where my daughter got me on to an electric scooter....

The video's are back to front... but I'm sure it will be clear which was which....

I did knit a couple of scrubbers on the way to the city........ (they are actually red but I rather like this cerise colour in the picture)

.... after all that revelling I was too tired on the way home and opted to nap instead!

... it was fun.... back home and looking forward to a quiet day....

Righto, Gotto Go....  I'm over to Cheryll's linky to see what other WOOFA projects have been done...
