A few finishes .....

Today I am linking up with Sandy's Monday Show and Tell - my August OPAM finishes on the sidebar are looking a bit sad this month...
.. I tend to do several.... well... lots... of different things at one time... but then it inevitably means I have a few finishes at a time

I think it has something to do with A.A.A.D.D.  - information recently sent to me via email - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder....

however, I must add that although I do have mature age limited attention span... I don't think there is any disorder in it... in fact I think my chaos is very orderly..... (Hubz disagrees but then he has no idea how to sew)

so getting on... with doing a bit of this .... and a bit of that... and then a bit of whatever..... I now have some pretties that I have finished......

4 patch Stack and Whack is quilted and bound
Long time ago last year I did a workshop and made the top.
I'm glad to say it is a finished UFO to go to Sew It's Finished

I did all the quilting using a design on paper shown HERE.
a separate feather flower for each of the blocks and then a complete joined feather border

sorry to show off.... I haven't done a big feather design like this before....

A little grandiegirl in England is now at an age where she wants pretty bags to go shopping with her mom -
these are dinky little bags and makes me wish I was a one year old.....

A fairly simple squared off tote... but just in little size.... with some buttons added for fun

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I only caught on the idea of having thread savers recently.....
(not actually sure what it's called but that little bit of sewing you do before starting your main item so the thread doesn't get all gemorshelled at the back of your work...)
.... instead of a scrap I pinned together a bunch of little 4" charm squares
(I belong to a quilt shop club and one of the benefits is getting 4" charms of a selection of new fabrics - we get about 10 of these quarterly and they build up nicely)
 - one square pretty charm.. the other square plain white..... these sit in a box next to my machine....
each time I finish off I sew down a side of the square and that acts to hold the thread .....
very quickly I have a bunch of sewn up charm squares.....
slice, slice, snip, snip.....
half square triangles..... they go into their own box now....
I'll now use them as thread savers (or whatever they are called so they don't gemorshel up my work)
and sew them up in rows
I finished my embroidery sampler - and framed it on a 10" square canvas... just a few staples in the back....
.... very cute methinks....
design and lessons by Bari J of welovefrenchknots
.... some stitching and slicing of the yummy chocolates going on .....
some designing of a Christmas stocking for this years newly arrived Grandiegirl....
Future Fresh Salads from my garden
and watching fat buds open on one of my favourite climbers
...... and all that makes 4 OPAM finishes for me......
Time for a cuppa ...
.... and a snack...
I wonder what my A.A.A.D.D. will find for me to do today.....
I think I'll sit in the sun and read.... it's a beaut day
What are you doing?
Oh Christmas Tree.....
I do love all the different Christmas Trees I have received in swaps.... and I hope nobody is offended by my showcasing this one....
I have been blown away by this one from Larissa.  It is very pretty but I am also very touched to see the loving work she has done ...
Larissa knows I am just learning needleturn (we are bloggy friends) so she designed this lovely block....
each section of the tree is sewn separately and the 'ornaments' hand stitched with embroidery....
even the back is worth showing you......
... and look at the lovely card that came with it... giving a description of the work...
(I should have taken a picture of the front... a lovely native flowering bush)
I'm sure you will agree this is a very special block to receive
thanks Larissa
Another story ......
This is a great idea to quickly run up a pair of comfy stretch pants for a little person....
I'll show you ... in the form of a story....
Once upon a time .... a little while after Mrs Bubz was so upset at the misery of littlebluetshirt (story found HERE)  a Widget came to stay with Mrs Bubz and her Hubz .....
....... now there is lots of grubby things to do at Mrs Bubz and her Hubz's house....
........... like play in the shed with Pops
... and dig in the garden
... and feed the worms in the worm farm
...... and chase the dog round and round
.... and splash in the bird bath
...... and generally get filthy and run out of clothes......
.... luckily ... Mrs Bubz hadn't gone to the Op shop yet and thought maybe she could run up a comfy pair of pants......
......... it was amazing -  the T shirts jumped and yelled saying "pick me... pick me"  "We would just love to be Widget's pants"
.... well Widget and Mrs Bubz laughed at MrBrownTshirt he was so excited (good for playing in the dirt)
so Mrs Bubz dug out an old pattern.... and altered the size a bit.....
 the bottom of the MrBrownTshirt was exactly right for the hems of the trouser legs....
two legs easily cut out...... MrBrownTshirt sighed with pleasure ....
.... "Whizz" went OscartheOverlocker..... Whizz.... Whizz....
"Whee" ... called out MrBrownTshirt.......
........... and soon all that was needed was to fold the top and add some elastic .....
..... well.....
MrBrownTshirts sigh of pleasure suddenly changed.....
"Mrs Bubz" he shouted...... "What have you done?"
 "I have never, ever seen anyone with two bottoms on one leg and two fronts on the other leg ......."
"You silly, silly old woman"
...well.... there was not much Mrs Bubz could say about that except nod her head in agreement.....
..... and that is the end of that story.....
except to add MrNavyBlueTshirt offerred to help out and now there is a pair of proper fitting pants for garden work..... hmmmmmm
Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it…Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
Goethe
perhaps I should stick to stitching...
does anybody else do this sort of thing????
 I am hoping I am not alone out here????
Stitch-A-Long blocks
The last of the blocks stitched .....
Here comes Santa.....
and like so many others I have used the Christmas Wreath for a label...
Here they all are together......
that won't be the final layout
but I can start planning....
This quilt is being made with the support of a Stitch-A-Long... there are lots of different ones to see HERE
Meanwhile I have started playing with these....
~ dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate ~
you won't see much of this..... you see it is a present for youngest daughter who has been complaining LOUDLY at not getting a quilt
Lots to treasure .......
Treasure #1 - A Squishy
Isn't it lovely when you get a little squishy in your post box ..... especially one you weren't expecting....
Miss Merry Bear came to live at my house......
Isn't she a darling?
Rosie made her and sent her to live with me... she is very little (4" tall) and I am AMAZED at the detail and how it is even possible to work with such tiny pieces of fabric... thanks so much Rosie - even though it's not Christmas she is hanging up on the sideboard.....
Treasure #2 - Another Squishy.....
This squishy didn't arrive in the post and I was expecting him...
Widget came to stay for the weekend...... here he is taste testing the cake he made for Pops .....
I guess this is approval?
Treasure #3 - Can you spot it?
This is the corner of a fernery we put in 2 years ago to keep the hot summer sun off our bedroom wall.....
Can you see anything in the corner?
I'll zoom in a bit closer.........
... and closer still.... though my focus is not so good.....
A dove has made her nest ..... I am hoping that means spring in on it's way....
Treasure # 4 - Blooming georgeous.......
I showed this bush a couple of weeks ago with lots of buds....
here it is again...... just lovely
This is "Happy Wanderer" (or Hardenbergia violacea), a native Australian vine
you can see it has wandered happily out of the bed....
Treasure # 5 - Conquering New Stitches....
YES, YES.... bullion roses...
part of the sampler provided and tutored by Bari at welovefrenchknots
Treasure # 6 - BOM stitcheries.
This is the August Birdie Stitchery
designs provided free by Little Miss Shabby
I am linking today with Melody's Tuesday Treasure... where I am off to right now and see what other treasures are on show....
I hope you have a happy, treasurely, stitchy whatever you love week.......
