Update on stiching....

I did get my set of 12 One Block Wednesday blocks done....

Silly me forgot to take the pictures I had taken of the set up for my flannel postcards quilt so I couldn't sew that....

So I carried on with the little blocks ……

I did get all the 36 little dresden plates made and sewn together... now it needs hand applique to the background and the centre stitchery sewn in....

Another mouse is finished - she looks annoyed - I think her Hubz tried to use her scissors for gardening work....

I am still slowly catching up on Blockheads blocks.... and got this 6" one done

and this 12 x 6" one done....

The quilt top is made in 4 large pieces made up of the different blocks.. there are still quite a few gaps but I did get this quarter together (I changed a little from the given setting just to separates some of my colours)  That is 42 x 36" already.... will be quite a big quilt ….. perhaps borders and 4 lap quilts....

I am trying to set out the others so I can be a little more selective about the colours in the last blocks of them all....

Just need more time for playing with them....

Righto, Gotto Go.... see if I can find some of that time I'm looking for.....

Strongest predictions we have had for a long time for some rain... so here's hoping

This week....

Some more One Block Wednesday by Temelca Quilt Company have been done ….  the count is at 84 blocks by now.... I have done more than that.... not sure the size mine will be as I am going to keep going while I used up this set of shirtings….

For a relatively small and simple block it surprises me how long they take me to do

Summer Garden is a BOM by Quilt Doodle Designs and I have done the March block

This is the 4 blocks we have done so far - they are 12" square

Mr Postie came by this week with a lovely gift from Shez....  what a cute cutter case to make...

.. and I just love the fabrics that are in the kit... thanks Shez...x

I worked on another Moda Blockheads block..... this is #40/52 so I still have quite a few more to do.  This one is 6".

I have been steadily working on my latest Flowerville block in the evenings.....

… almost done

At the weekend Hubz and I went and found a frame for my new picture from Michelle

and hung it up in our dining area

I love how the maroon curtains and the dark frame pick up the dark in the wisteria - simple no fuss shows off the art I think.

We used to have these two charcoal drawings  of farm scenes in that spot one above the other but we found a space for them on another wall.

Righto, Gotto Go... real job (quilting which is more like play) to do.....

Maybe coffee first

Hope your week is going well

ChooseDay sewing

This week's One Block Wednesdays are done....  I had a few already done so only had to make some of them....

Lyn does lovely embroidery (as a business) and gave me these two personalised towels... they look very sophisticated having the monograms in the same colour as the towel....  pretty as well as useful

It's been a while since I have done any work for the Moda Blockheads blocks where I am trying to use scraps... some of the blocks are big and I have had to delve into bigger pieces.

This week I got this one done... It's 24" square ……… like a quilt on it's own and nearly took me the whole day to do!

Mind you we did take a bit of a break and watched a movie for a change....  I borrowed this from the library so we sat and did some hand sewing.  A delightful story even if it made me cry a bit!

I didn't have much to do on this little block... in contrast to the pieced one this one is 4" …

another block towards my United Stitches - still lots more to go....

Righto, Gotto Go..... the day is bursting with anticipation …. (not really but I'm trying to get motivated!)

ChooseDay .....

I enjoyed catching up with the ChooseDay girls this week, and get on with a machine sewing project.

I did some more of my French General Granny Squares.....  they will join the others (and I still have a few more to do) then some sashing …

Lyn has started an embroidery business ….. and I got a gift from her …. she even made the sweet little tag...

This is the other Blockheads that I needed to do by hand..... blanket stitch applique around the edges...

… and I had a bunch of circles prepared... quite a few of them already sewn so I finished this bunch off...

My Design Wall....

Early in the school holidays Widget came and stayed with us for a few days..... he commented on the label on Hubz quilt... and said innocently " so the secret to making a quilt is love?".... so that is my new sign on the light.....  Sometimes little people can say such special things.

Sometimes they say stupid things too like "Nana, when you were little did you have a dinosaur as a pet?"

On our road trip my daughter introduced me to Podcasts... I had heard of them but never stopped to do the app and listen.  We started listening to this one which has been in our local news.  It's quite long so now instead of a book I have episodes... a tragic story which seems that it is only now being investigated properly.

I have a few new projects planned.... (of course)… this may be one of the most urgent ones.....

My Peg bag...… I wonder how long I have till those threads break....  it is so faded and mouldy now too....

Righto, Gotto Go... real job sewing work to do today... and maybe a bit of tracing.....

On we go....

Keeping up with Blockheads... this one is called Rolling Stone (6 1/2" square)

… and this one is 'Dreamy' and is 18 1/2" square.....

…. and Anchor Point which is 12 1/2" square....

Block 34 - Basket and Vine needed some blanket stitch so that will be night time stitching ….

Righto, Gotto Go..... it's Monday.... back to work!!

… but I did play with this yesterday...…

the blocks are all sewn together and I am just adding borders later today.....

PS... I love it....

New Sampler and FNWF

My friend Jane is doing a sampler quilt online through her Facebook page....

I have known Jane through her blog for a long time and met her on my last trip to the UK which was so lovely...

I am using these leftover fabrics from a coordinated range...

This sampler quilt is perfect for someone new to quilting …. Jane is progressing the difficulty of the blocks.... for instance this first block is just a single cut square... the twelfth block will have 12 pieces to it..

She also does video's to help newbies along and provides a lot of support...

It's also free - so even more perfect for someone wanting to learn and maybe not spend a lot of money if they are not sure if they will enjoy it...

I am going to sew along - I am making the blocks half the size.  My small sewing is not good at all so I want this to be my learning for mini quilts.  This will be a great way to reinforce piecing skills and learn some new tips from Jane.

Her facebook page for the Sampler Quilt is HERE.....

This week for Friday night I had a double date …. Cheryll had us cyberly for FNWF and Marion at The Quilters Angel hosted the Friday Night stitchers (there was cheesecake!)

I started Block 5 of Flowerville (design by Rosalie Dekker)

I also spoilt myself with some pretty new fabrics, I love these pretty prints - not sure what I will make with them just yet.

I am well behind on my Moda Blockheads quilt so I have got the fabrics out and started some...

This is Star Power (Block 33)

and this one is called Gibby (Block 35)

Righto, Gotta Go.... I'll get on and do some more Blockheads ....
