July starts.....

Blooms has been quilted and the binding added (still to hand sew down)  I did custom quilt it as you can see.....

I do think it is pretty and fresh looking quilt..... sitting in the binding pile now.... top made in 2020

I started quilting this childrens one at the weekend...... going around the edges and lines on the borders so I got it done within the week....

I found some suitable fabric for binding in my stash so have added that....

It's now sitting in the binding queue too.....

Finally finished off this section of the table-runner embroidery.....  only one section left and it is my goal to get it done this month......

Got back to the neglected 'Tuesleydale' sewing with Tracy this week..... we had to relearn how to do it so were pleased to get 4 done each.....

Tracy and I are already planning what next - we are both enjoying foundation piecing....

I saw Janice had done a panel quilt.... and remembered I had a bunch of panels so decided that will be my next quilting focus..... I found fabric for backings and some wadding left overs that are the right size and I now have a pile....  There are a couple of panels which are long and thin so I will piece some plains to go on the sides to make them a more useful shape.....

That road will be the first... I think it would be a fun floor mat for playtime.....

3rd week of June

Progress on the embroidery....... this was last week....

and this is this week.....

I have done a bit of quilting... this is a top I made back in 2019/20 called Bloom

If I remember right it was a free pattern by Lori Holt....and Maria kindly gave me the templates for the shapes?  I did love making it and the fresh pretty colours (I had a layer cake) - it just got forgotten in a box!

I also spent a fair bit of time ironing batik pieces and cutting for the next QCR quilt by Sew Kind of Wonderful.... 

... and there we have my crafting week ... I hope you have had some time to make something too.... xx

Righto, time for getting on with my day..... 

A busy week.....

Another United Stitches block.... these are all designs by Rosalie Dekker and I have sewn them using Cottage Garden threads (Snapdragon)

I have quilted the twisted blocks quilt... it's quite a small one and I just felt like doing it..... I did an all over design with swirls and hooks and some curles in the border.....

the back is actually part of a doona cover, which I found some years ago new but just loved the dots....  I think it was perfect for this quilt....

…. and now it is in the binding queue....

I had a lovely day on Tuesday with a friend and sewed happily on the machine and got my Bloom blocks together...

Then today I couldn't resist but to carry on and put the borders on....

.. and make the binding..... I was pleased to have found some backing just the right colour in my stash....

… and you know where it is now… in the quilting queue....

Now the drawer is empty.... I wonder how long it will take to find something to put in there?????

… and the last of my United Stitches blocks.... it wasn't on purpose to do this one last but it is just right.....  

It has rained... well, it has poured....

we have discovered gutters that don't cope and drains that are blocked... and the grass has grown -it's amazing that from brown dirt within 10 days there is lawn again, so are the weeds... but it's so good to see green

Righto, Gotto Go.... after all that there is a fair bit of tidying that needs to be done in the sewing room

Friday Night....

A lovely double date with Friday Nighters at The Quilters Angel and FNWF hosted by Cheryll with cyber friends....

I didn't take sewing... I took gluing!!  I don't do a lot of EPP and usually I baste but I think there are 144 of these to make and so desperation got me gluing.... I think I got half done.... so another session is required....

A few chores in town this morning and then...….

Yup... a sewing machine is not the only power-tool I know how to use.....

I can only reach half the hedge... so the front is done... it looks like it got a mohawk.... 

and I only cut through one power cord and tripped all the power in the house...…lucky Hubz is very patient with me and found another extension cord ..... and rolled his eyes almost to the back of his head!!

I feel I have made an honest annual contribution to the garden.

 This is the second of United Stitches that I managed to finish this week.....

One more to go!!!

Our white Jacaranda is flowering beautifully... it usually flowers in October, and it did last year, a little.  The recent bit of rain has mixed up lots of trees I have noticed.

They are lovely delicate flowers, I love the blue Jacaranda, but I love this one too....

For my me-time sewing this coming week Bloom blocks are out....

Sitting here on a Saturday afternoon listening to the sounds of suburbia... lawn mowers, whipper snippers, leaf blowers.... so good to have had some rain.... hope it keeps coming

A lovely weekend....

Last week I wanted to work on getting a few things that need finishing....

Over the year I have joined Jane with a sampler.... I did my blocks half size so mine is a mini quilt.  We started with a block that had one piece and ended with a block made of 12 pieces....  

So last week I added the sashing... and I have pinned it ready for quilting....

Whilst clearing a drawer I found a couple of flat (cheap) artist canvases so I used up some scrap wadding and a bit of bias binding and made a couple of block boards....

It is clear my gluing skills are limited.... but the boards will still work fine...

I have a mounting pile of 'stitcheries' which I have done over the years... every now and then I try and find something to do with one.... 

This is last weeks effort... the quote makes me smile and this is mounted also on an artist's canvas

There is embroidery, applique, piecing, hexagons …. so much to love in it....

Then a pile of bindings needed to be prepared too..... 

This weekend went so fast...

On Saturday we had Hubz work Christmas party, they don't do a 'party' always so it was fun to go off to a country pub and have a lovely meal.... not too late and a fun evening...

It was The Quilters Angel retreat time and of course I missed the Saturday but spent the whole day Sunday sewing.... (well maybe a bit of chatting too)….

I worked on my Bloom blocks doing the blanket stitch by machine.  I got all the beige, green and half the pink done.....

Righto, Gotto Go...  you can see I have created a few things to do... so I better go and get some done!  I'm having to resist the urge to make another In My Garden quilt... !!!
