2025 UFO finishes

I do love a list and have a blog page HERE where I list projects that are carrying over from the year before, and a few started during the year!!!!:

These are UFO projects that I managed to finish in 2025.  You will notice quilt tops are included (I count those as a First Finish and then they make the Quilting Queue)

I still have more of these little stitcheries but they haven't been started..... 

These were made into little needle-cases which were given to the Embroidery club for sale at their exhibition....

Picnic Quilt was cut and ready for sewing using a charm pack....

The top was made in January and it is in the Quilting Queue

Moda Love using a Layer cake - all cut and ready at the beginning of the year

Field Journal, the embroideries had all been stitched by 2023 and I had started framing the hexagons

All done and ready to show at our Embroidery Exhibition in September

Tea Cup Critters... I had about 5 of the blocks done

Quilt top completed in June and it's waiting in the Quilting Queue

PROGRESS MADE BUT STILL UFO

365 Sashiko..... I feel I should have made better progress on this project.

I had under 90 at the beginning of the year

Now I have done 155 blocks

Scrappy Stars... happy with the blocks I have made... still got lots of coloured scraps so will build up lights for backgrounds than I can do more as they work well for using up all sorts of colours.

I just had loads of scraps cut at the beginning of the year

50 blocks were made.  They are 12" square so enough for 2 quilts

Embroidered Table Runner...... I have done 3 sections this year and now half way through the embroidery..... 6 sections to go!

I believe I have done another 9 blocks this year.....  there are 30 altogether..... long way to go

Righto, Gotto Go... today I want to go through my drawers and find projects I have forgotten about!!!  

Second week of August ....

As mentioned last post we went to the capital to see the Titanic exhibition.  We try and go to a cultural event every now and then!!! 

It was held in the city centre and parking was easy....

A model made up of half the sunken ship... apparently a woman was not believed when she said she saw it snap it half until they actually found the remains....

Many of the pictures, furniture and artifacts were not the actual Titanic but a sister ship named Olympia as they were made at the same time and similar style...

A lovely big model of the ship... not one for Hubz to make!

We found the list of First Class Passengers...

... and there is Great great uncle Edward.....  apparently he had bought a second class ticket but when he got there paid a few extra pounds to be upgraded... Went down on his 37th birthday!

Had a time finding his picture as the one I had he looked quite different .... Mr google helped....

All the first class passengers.....  Edward has been described as a 'Roly Poly Irishman' and I have found exerts of a letter he sent to his sister describing the first part of the voyage...  I really should make a better collation about the family ..... (he was also the great great uncle of the Fiennes actors)

We had some time so messaged Michelle and we were able to meet up for lunch which was a bonus..... no picture as we talked too much!

This months UFO was some little hearts I had cut up from some left over fabric.... these have all been blanket stitched on (machine) and I am thinking I might make it up into a tote or project bag

One more Sashiko style block has been sewn.....

and a few more (same same) teal and cream framed hexagons stitched...

On Sunday I went to my clothes making class where April had my pattern ready and I made up my blouse...... 

I hate pictures of me and think I look daggy in anything but I had a great time.  I will make another of these for practice and make notes as I go along so I remember some of her tips.  Next time I will make some capri pants I think.

Righto, Gotto Go.  Whilst in Brisbane we popped into the swedish shop and got some curtains which need shortening... todays job!

Retreat sewing....

A lovely weekend was spent with the wonderful Sunday Stitchers from Brisbane...  I was very blessed to be able to go along and spend my weekend days with them....

The main thing I had wanted to get done was this Fat Quarter Quilt.

The pieces were all cut so it was a matter of choosing which fabric and doing lots of stitching

16 fat quarters and it makes 16 nice bold blocks... a lovely easy quilt for using fabulous fabrics you don't want cut into small pieces.

Of course being away from home I had to make sure Hubz had something to do.... We have this large brick facing wall with no windows (it's behind my oven and fridge and pantry cupboard in the kitchen)

Hubz drilled in the concrete and attached a tight wire for me.... 

... so now I have a lovely place to hang my finished tops and quilts for photograph taking!

This morning I found some backing to use... and I had already bought some of the same fabrics to use for binding....

I want to get this one quilted soonish as it is a gift....

Then I got onto sewing up smaller pieces I had pre-cut...

... and made them into two sweet baby quilts

... and this morning I cut some strips and made up the binding so it is ready when I get to them....

Pre retreat we had been given instructions for cutting a couple of pieces of fabric and we were helped making up lovely little snap bags using cut up tape measure... some Hubby is now missing his tape out the workshop!!!

... then I started on my next big scrappy project.... the red and cream pineapple blocks.

I got quite far but still have a few more rounds to do till they are big enough.

I am doing 25 x 10" blocks

The Sunday Stitchers had Show and Tell for the last UFO which was #5 and for me that was finishing a pair of socks

These socks were done but had been given away to my daughter... made from lovely  Bendigo wool

I have enjoyed making the socks, and I enjoy wearing mine so I will do more... one day.  I have always loved the idea of hand made socks and wanted to learn to make them.  Jane, my friend in UK

has video workshops and so I joined in a couple of years ago and that really helped my confidence.  Access to the video's is ongoing so if I forget what I learnt I can go back....

The next UFO challenge is #10... which is my Mouse Quilt......  

Quite a lot of work needs to be done for this.... which includes finding where I put the instructions...

Stitcheries were done quite a long time ago and I am going to be using my Tilda left over from other projects pieces as it is not a big quilt/wallhanging....

Righto, Gotto Go.... after a relaxing weekend which finished with a shopping trip to a local quilt shop and some yummy lunch yesterday I have work to do....

Pincushion

The Brisbane Sunday Stitches have a F/B group for a UFO challenge.... at the beginning of the year we number 12 different UFO's and each month a number is chosen....

Cheryll hosts WOOFA and though I had hoped to work on another project they will have to combine this month....

I did lay out my WOOFA challenge on the design board... so that kinda counts???

For May it was the big round pincushion that I was to finish....

 There is so much to each part so heaps of pictures...

It's about 6" in diameter....

I loved doing all the different aspects of applique, embroidery, even EPP,

... so much detail...

I had a guineafowl candle holder in the house (from Zimbabwe)

perfect size for this big round pincushion...

I'm afraid I don't want to stick pins into it.... it has become one of my favourite dust collectors instead....
