Third week of August

My second Be My Neighbour block for August has been finished.  I needed to applique on the bird and flower.  It's a bit busy on it's own but I think that will calm once it is with the others.

Only 2 blocks to go now .... I will miss doing these each month with Susan

3 more Sashiko blocks have been done..... that's 149 done - I need to draw out more grids....

I finished the Fishing quilt this week.....  I bought some green for the side borders and binding....

This shows some of the lovely fishy fabrics....

and the panel I found for the centre....

I bought a doona cover for the backing... it's just like a flannal a fisherman would use.... you can see my 'watery' quilting

My garment making/recycling (I'm not sure it counts as UPcycling - not that glamorous) this week involved chopping up a vintage blanket (which already had big pieces cut from it) and using my Laura Jacket pattern made up a cardigan type garment.

I'm not lining it and have done an organic style crochet edging.  There are quite a few holes in the blanket (pure wool) so I will add a bit of stuff to cover them - not going to do too much as I think this will just be a casual cosy experiment.  I do like the idea so if I find a good quality vintage blanket I will make one properly.

A bit of crochet and a bit of knitting, some sorting and tidying done and the week has disappeared....

Righto, Gotto Go, I still have the sleeves to crochet on the recycle cardigan jacket .....

Have a lovely weekend...xx

Another nice Neighbourhood block. Guess Susan and you could keep making houses for another quilt.each of you could have turns choosing the block??
The Fishing quilt looks great and perfect quilting and backing.
Cosy jacket made from the old blanket….

Your fishing quilt is fun, and will be loved. Your little house is busy but yes, it's a busy little neighbourhood!

Gosh lots of interesting projects this week Fiona. Love all those fishing fabrics & the green really pops. Your blanket jacket reminded me of one I made myself once, several winters ago, lined & everything. It made me feel like a great big Grizzly Bear when I was wearing it so I "donated it". Such a shame as hours of work & lots of details.

That fun house could the florist shop in Your Neighbourhood. (Thinking out loud) Congrats on finishing the Fish quilt. It's the perfect quilt for the cottage, cuddled in at the bonfire. Whoever it's for, they will love it. Love the back too. The blanket cardigan/jacket looks so soft and warm. There are videos from this lady who does magic with holes in fabric. Her way of using embroidery to cover the hole is quick, lasting, and so gorgeous. I'll look for her video again and send you the link.
Have a great weekend. ;^)

You have been busy again with your blocks. And great to see the fishing quilt completed with its new borders.
That is going to be a snuggly jacket with the blanket fabric. It definitely works well.

Bird, flower, house – another great block.
I've already used a bed sheet as a quilt backing and loved it.
Your new recycled jacket is a great idea. Have fun finishing it!
Best wishes
