Gotta love little Miss Q on her Quilt...

.. and gotta love a new quilt to make....

... and gotta love friends who want to make the same quilt...

... only Madame C has the book till Madame L and mine arrive but I did make these block holders in preparation....

(tutorial  HERE though I used an all purpose craft glue... I found my hot glue gun was very gluggy and didnt' stick well at all - could be a user fault!!!)  and I also had some corflute (instead of the foam board) from a sign which I repurposed ...

.. so we started with a block that we thought would be easy and no templates needed (since we are waiting for our books to arrive)

Chimneys and Cornerstones - 16 pieces

....these are all 6" blocks....

... there was a bit of reverse sewing required from time to time....

Chinese Coin - 17 pieces

I love how they look so different in our chosen colourways...

Madame L is using the purples and greys and Madame C is doing the pastels

Children's Delight - 12 pieces

.. the board certainly makes it nice and easy to lay out the block ...

I am using up scraps in civil war reproduction fabrics that I have from previous projects for the moment since only smaller pieces are needed - have purchased some backgrounds and I will need sashing

Ribbon Star - 17 pieces

this next one was supposed to be foundation paper pieced but was simpler just to cut and sew....

Bright Hopes - 5 pieces

here on my first 5 blocks.... there are only 140 of them.....

... not bad for a days work.... 

I am hoping that sewing with the other two will make sure I keep up with the blocks making and don't end up with yet another half finished project in the cupboard ...

Righto, Gotto Go... prep work for next weeks sewing to do... it will be blocks with a bit of English Paper Piecing so we can take handwork to Quilt Club ...

Forever and ever.....

It all started with my daughter taking widget to Sea World....

... so of course I pulled out my wool felt and some pieces of fabric....

... these two look a little surprised....

.. to find out their forever and ever has got to 36 times around the sun! ....

... this little mini will be our reminder of our forever and ever.....

Little Miss K is handing out free Kisses....

Over the years I participated in Sue's Block Swap project....  I stopped last year as I just wasn't keeping up with using up the blocks I had collected.  It's a great way to get blocks and also learn new skills by making other people's blocks.

One of the selections I had was for rail fence blocks in pastel colours .. and this month I have made them up into little quilts for Cheryll's Blankets of Love project 

quilted and lined with flannel

... they are 24" square...

...( I might have had a bit of fun with the quilting).. 

.. and I used single ones lined with flannel for smaller ones that might be needed...

... glad that these will go a little way to helping comfort broken hearts....

... then feeling a bit overwhelmed with my different projects I decided to start something new....

worked on the wool project at a friends house....

... who provided just the right kind of support ....

.. and she happens to live near a quilt store....

(like 3 minutes walk near!!!!)

... so I got some pieces for another new project ...

This week the blocks for Natures Journey were done to keep up with the June Stitch-a-Long plan

I love these blocks.. those circles are made up of 25 little 1 1/2" squares each... so effective...

I bought some new nail clippers last week and they came packaged with a couple of these toe dividers....

I don't need my toes divided so I am using them to hold my bobbins .....

... here are the little heart and ladybird blocks....

... that's all the little blocks done now... next month is the biggie!!!

Righto, Gotto Go... I better get some things done so I can play ... such fun ... I love our craft....

FNSI results.....

Sometimes plans don't actually happen... and that was my story last evening... but I still sewed... but not what I planned...

I did carry on with the preparation for the next set of Nature's Journey blocks by sewing 1 1/2 inch squares together....

All the blocks are all ready now for the hand sewing.... I'll get some done this weekend....

Sweetpea quilt was whispering for attention so I put corners on the snowball patch blocks that are stitched with bears.....

... I just couldn't throw the corners away so I sewed two lots of seams and now have the snippets to play with....

... trimmed they make lovely little 1 1/2" HST's.... 

(I predict a mini quilt in my future)

I even sewed some blocks together and pinned these onto my flannel sheet....

...  loving the look....

I will HAVE to shop when this part is done... I think it will definitely benefit from borders.....

Hubz was out of town so I had a marathon catch up of Miss Fisher's Murder Misteries and these alphabet blocks were finished....

and P for Pansy... and Perfume.... and Perfectly fun....

Righto, Gotto Go... no sewing tonight.....

A friend has asked me to go with her to this..... I have no idea about Country Rock but I'm sure I will have a lot of fun... they look like fun blokes......

FNSI at Wendy's.....

This month is going by a bit tooooooooo fast methinks....

Well, tonight Wendy is hosting FNSI.... it's a cold and damp and misty day today so I will be machine sewing and preparing my projects for sitting sewing this evening.....

I have my Nature's Journey blocks for June to do.... the fabric for the leaves need to be sorted... and those ladybirds need heads and legs!!!

... I did make a start on the ladybirds at stitching yesterday.....

.... and I also want to make more progress on my Alphabet Bears.....
