Month end.....

My WOOFA challenge UFO this month was the Chevron quilt.... which just required the binding put on it...

I already showed more detail on this quilt HERE....

Thanks Cheryll for keeping us on track with getting through some of our UFO's...

I have taken this little bag and needlecase to work on in August ....

I also join in with the Sunday Stitchers and their UFO challenge each month, where they allocate a number to 12 different UFO's and we get told on their meeting dates the next number....

June/July was #12 which was my Tote Bags...

I bought these panels last year .... just beautiful ....

and this was a pair of panels given to me years ago....

I backed each panel with a layer of iron on Parlan and gave them a lining.  These wildlife ones I gave a different back so I could get 3 totes....

I used the pattern from The Quilters Angel which had been designed specifically for the panels... they have some new gorgeous botanical bird  kits in now... hmmmmm tempting !

but the larger one is just one bag with two sides different....

This months number for SS's is #5 which is my socks.  I have made a good start... I had one sock made so it's just doing it's partner.  I am using 4 ply wool so it takes quite a few rows to get that long foot done!!

Progress has been made on my Love quilt and I have added some borders

and ordered some EPP papers so that I can do them on that stripey border.... some honeycomb and square shapes...

This is the pattern I am using... there is another border on the edge with more EPP  after some fun piecing and needleturn....

Certainly getting some EPP practice in this one...

Righto, Gotto Go..... a bit of tidying and sorting is required then get on with a quilt job....

Have  a lovely rest of the week....

In a bind.....

I managed to get the  binding sewn down on this quilt .....

It was quilted some time ago.... large single bed size....

I did up and down in the colours and leaves in the white... then a swirl in the green border and updownswirls in the border....

I think it's a lovely happy quilt made from a range of fabrics from quite a while back I think...

I have a son and grandiechildren in Melbourne and they have to wear masks so I have ventured into making a few.

While I was at it I decided I should have one for just in case we have to wear them too ...  occasionally I see someone wearing one but it's not compulsory or strongly advised in our state at this stage....

Thanks for those who sent ideas and help after my last post.  I ended up trying a couple of different ones and finally went for this one found HERE. Thanks Crafty Quilter... A few more steps than the rectangle ones but they seem to have a better fit.

I'm sure it would be very hard to pick out which one I am going to keep for me....

Righto, Gotto Go.... will be chilling this weekend... a bit cool and damp (wonderful).

I hope you have a lovely relaxing one doing something you love to do.....

July's block for Wish You Well is done....

and I have added it to the last 2 months.....

where we are up to so far....  I love the combination of embroidery, applique, a bit of lace and piecing....

I have started to join my crochet squares together.... a friend showed me this way... a slip stitch in between the groups of trebles.. then 3 chain.. then slip stitch again... goes nice and quick and not too bulky....

My little hexagon flowers are all together now and I have started stitching them on to the background fabric..... but changed to embroidery so it is going slow!!!

This week I took out one of my own quilts from the queue and did the quilting... it is my One Block Wednesday and I am doing the same design throughout ... so sortof custom sortof all over...

This week I got a lovely bunch of flowers as a thank you for a quilt done last year.... a lovely surprise and they are so pretty... lasting well too

They arrived by post, the postie that delivers here is always wonderful about hiding my parcels behind the pot....

as we are unfenced and face the road it's lovely that they can't be seen

I have a son in Melbourne, which is now a mandatory face mask wearing area.... so guess what I am going to be trying out today....  any tips or patterns will be gratefully received....

Not sure if my machine can cope with such an article!!! haha

Righto, Gotto Go... off to search the internet for some suitable mask patterns... lucky there seems to be loads out there

Lucky lucky me....

Many of you know Michelle and her wonderful art she posts about HERE....

A friend of hers gave her a resource photo and Michelle has done this gorgeous Lilac Breasted Roller and gifted it to me...

It is an African bird and really full of these beautiful shiny colours.... Michelle has captured them so well and you can see the feather detail... amazing work...

I will need to get a frame for it... will have to think about how best to show it off

Thanks Michelle, it is very treasured

Meantime I stitched up an Australian bird.... our lovely Kookaburra ...  this is part of Field Journal and this colour used is Kookaburra!

... and this colour is Pansy....

Yesterday I felt like baking (doesn't happen often!) .... I adore date and nut loaf and I have these lovely old fashioned round nut tins... they cut into lovely circle pieces which I think is fun....

Luckily the recipe makes more than one loaf.... they disappear rather quickly round here.

Righto, Gotto go.... coffee and a slice of date loaf for me....

That was a weekend....

Suddenly it is Monday again.....

I spent Saturday doing my own sewing ...

I had these blocks together with the sashing but wanted to use up the leftovers in making a scrappy border.....

It is now a large single bed size...... and I'm happy with it.....

I did these blocks with Jane's sewalong and learnt some new manipulation of 9 patch blocks

Now it is packed away with a backing, wadding and binding... waiting in the Quilting Queue for the next play date...

There were a bunch of squares still left so I have joined them together..... I was thinking tray mats but there is more than I need... so maybe a tote bag, a couple of tray mats and a mug rug....  they can wait....

Then I started prepping up for the next round of my Love quilt..... 1/2" hexagons... hmmmmm

but they do make sweet little flowers.....

I have finished my 4 little stitcheries for Wish You Well.... and in the next week I will choose some fabrics and lace and put the block together....

I like the 'simplify' and do think it's good to do that..... too easy to overthink things and make life more difficult that in needs to be....

It appears my comments are back.... I reverted to the old blogger and redid all my email settings..... however a few still come in as no-reply and one doesn't come at all for some reason (so sorry if I'm not responding to you).

Righto, Gotto Go... one of those simple things to do includes hanging out the washing! Yay!!!!

Have a lovely week......

Stitching ......

My little banner is growing... there is two of the bunny stitcheries so I did them in tandem since they were both using the same colour threads....

I rather like the bunny's expression...

The banner is by Natalie Bird and I purchased my pre-printed panel from The Quilters Angel (who have built up their on-line shop with the closing of their bricks and mortar storefront)

Next door building is making progress..... This is our view looking at the bird feeder.....

there used to be a lovely tree with berries that the wild birds just loved just on the other side of the fence.... but the chainsaw won that round..... and now we have a view of the portaloo! (at least that is not permanent)

In fact every single tree was removed so the whole place could be flattened....

Yup... construction takes no sides with the environment.... chop all trees and leave your mess.....

we do have a good hedge between us and them except for this little spot which used to be filled with the lovely tree with the berries the birds like....

Last night I finished up this little stitchery.... it is one for my July instalment of Gail Pan's BOM

Hair cut day today..... it's been a while and I look a bit like a shaggy dog..... I moved hairdresser about a year ago to a lovely young girl who didn't charge a fortune just for a trim which only lasts a few weeks.... she does a lovely cut, knows I like a short fringe and my ears covered..... but now she is stopping and going on a holiday.....  I'm very pleased for her but not for me!

I was still having problems with comments .... so I have reverted back to old blogger and reset all my settings... see if that works....

Righto, Gotto Go..... I want to quickly sew up a seam for a backing before I go for my beautification....
