Inspiration .......

This year I wanted to do a picture a day ... of something that gives me pleasure....

I am struggling to remember to do a picture each day... but I have a little side line blog HERE....  and once a week I am linking to Alsha's space to share a photo a week....

This week's word is "Inspiration" and this is my picture....

This last week I have spent a lot of time quilting ....

the blocks in the quilt are done differently... sort of 'sampler' style but I wanted the quilting also to be subtle and highlight the colours and design of the quilt....

This is the quilt I made in the Aiming for Accuracy Quiltalong

... now for trimming and binding.....

... on the handsewing front .. this naughty, naughty face seems to have appeared....

Righto, Gotto Go.....

FNSI

Just to say I am thinking of people who are affected by the huge number of fires in NSW at the moment... terrifying and sad times for so many .....

The borders are on my Aiming for Accuracy quilt so this is the finished flimsy

The whole quilt along was great fun and thanks to Michele at Quilting Gallery   for really informative teaching and a great design....

In the last borders the tip that helped me most was leaving about an inch at the end of the length required and cutting that off after sewing... this helped so much for that little bit of movement you get and then have a slightly off border... I will always do this with my borders now... (if you want a better explanation and a video to watch go HERE)

Tonight is FNSI and join ups are HERE at Wendy's place...

I was thinking to carry on with my Christmas stitcheries......

... but I have run out of the blue variegated thread....

... so the next thing is the Gail Pan Christmas stitchery....

.... but I have run out of the green thread.....

.... so maybe I will have to start on something new....

HERE  is a clue...... it's Sharon's fault.....

Righto, Gotto Go... prep work to do......

Friday sewing....

Thank you Wendy for hosting FNSI for me and 58 others ... I had a fun day.. hope you did too.....

Kris came along to join me and Bev (no blog) during Friday day and lookie what she brought along with her....

..... HOME MADE JAM ......

You can see I have already tucked into the strawberry jam and the other is orange and ginger which I shall be having on my Sunday morning toast....

There is just nothing like full fruit home made jam, thanks so much Kris... and such cute little jars they came in too!

Well, once my sticky little hands were washed (you cannot eat strawberry jam without getting sticky!!)
I became aquainted with this little blue bird.... I love the printed white fabric I found for the stitchery - it is giving a lovely dimension to the picture...

... then later in the evening after I fed Hubz I made up another block for the A4A quiltalong - only one little bit of unpicking to get my points to meet....

these are all the blocks we have done so far....

I am enjoying each block and getting tips and hints for improvement as we go along

Righto, Gotto Go.... maybe I'll make up a pincushion.....

Catching up.....

I have finally quilted and bound one of my two Scrappy Trip around the World quilts...

This is a Bonnie Hunter design and the tutorial can be found HERE .... a great way to use up 2 1/2" strips and really quite quick and easy when you think of all those little squares...

I haven't done much meandering so that is what I chose to practice.... not bad but there are still bumps and pointy bits where they shouldn't be.... more practice... I'll just have to finish the other quilt!!

With a busy quilt like this nobody will notice.... except of course quilt police with magnifying glasses...

quite effective....

I am playing along with Anorina's Scrap Challenge... ( I do love a good scrap project!)

This is last weeks challenge..... very sweet and easy so I made two....

little hearts... which could be used for pincushions... I rather like them hanging .... with other trinkets....

These will be going in the box for the Birthday Love Stash.... which means I might need to make another for myself????

This quiltalong is giving lots of tips about being accurate with little points!  Mine have certainly improved but quilt police with magnifying glasses would certainly notice imperfections!!!

These are weekly blocks and I have been keeping up with sewing them.... just not blogging about them....

Block 4...

Block 5....

Block 6

Righto, Gotto Go... I have a UFO to finish off....

I do hope you have had a lovely stitchy weekend...

Aiming for Accuracy

I am enjoying the Aiming for Accuracy Quiltalong - the instructions are clear and I am managing to keep up with the weekly block....

Block 2 ...

Block 3 .....

It's fun seeing all the different ones that are being made too

...... and my 9 patch swap blocks for this month are done ...

.... 6 sets so far... a few more to go... thanks Trish who is gathering them all together for us

.. this is a delicate stitchery I am working on at the moment... single thread....

.... and some amazing cloud formations.... just because I find them amazing and beautiful ...

Righto, Gotto Go.... there's some binding that needs to be done... I seem to have been doing so much and yet I have no finishes... very frustrating

This week is FNSI and Wendy is hosting it ....

pop along HERE to sign up

perhaps I'll get something finished!

FNWF.....

... so these little fat chooks were spotted in the garden this morning ...

they are a UFO from last year ... and didn't need much work.... I used bear stuffing beads so they sit nicely... and have funny googly eyes....

I did this block for the "Aiming for Accuracy" quiltalong last week... the new block is out now so I must get moving....

This months swap block is a Braced Star - I have made several attempts and have battled with this one....
between the measurements and templates things are just not meeting....

Righto, Gotto Go.... dinner is ready ........

Thanks Cheryll for having us last night - looking forward to seeing what everybody did....
