4th week of July

Last week I showed our new table cover.....  it is the cats new favourite spot... this is later in the afternoon - enjoying the warmth .....

At Garment sewing April made up a pattern for me from a favourite blouse.... I didn't get the neck quite right but know how to do a better one.  I used a piece of vintage cotton I had been given.  It's a bit see through so I will need to get a cami.  Simple pattern so I will make another.  I am considering dying it another colour - I'm no good at keeping white white!

Something I have wanted to make for ages is a Newsboy cap.....  I will use this old jacket which has already lost  a sleeve!

I'm not a hat person and Hubz won't like it (though I think it will be perfect for a golfer!) but I want to make one

That will be my August sewing day - it will be fiddly.

My first pair of Mittens is done.... one is a little bigger than the other!

... but much better than my first attempt where I read cm instead of inches!

Some of the left over bed cover quilt has been made into tray mats.

We eat our meal at night on a tray in front of the TV.

I still have a big piece left.... perhaps a tote bag next.

Some more scrappy stars have been made....

I do like how these come together.... the cream rectangles for the star points are used up now so need to put that aside for a while....  I  have other Scrappy plans .....

Because there are 5 Tuesdays this month, club will be having a 'destash' day where members can bring in anything they want to destash... there are often some great bargains - of course I'll take my purse and look for some cream scrappy pieces....

Righto, Gotto Go.... Hubz and I are off to Jumpers and Jazz today...... will be fun - have a lovely weekend xx

Lovely projects. I don't blame the cat at all for wanting to sit in a comfy spot in the sun. :). I was hoping to get to jumpers & jazz this year seeing as i can camp out at my brothers place but not happening at all, maybe next year. :)

Oh I love the new table cover Fiona ... somehow I missed your last post. Yes I can certainly see why that sunny spot would appeal to the cat. I love newsboy caps. I look forward to seeing you bring it to life. I used to buy those old woolen mens jackets from thrift stores & unpick them & use the wool in my penny rug projects. You could pick them up very cheaply awhile ago - probably not so now.

Jumpers and Jazz always looks like fun! Your Harris tweed is lovely fabric. Well done on the mittens, I made some for my boys when they were small from a book that I still have. Your kitty has the right idea, better to be in looking out on a cool day than out looking in......lol......

Of course your cat knows that the table cover was made just for it!
That looks like a lovely blouse. It hangs very nicely.
Great work with the mittens. Yes, the measurements do matter.
And good luck with the cap.

A lovely variety. The blouse looks great and I am looking forward to seeing the cap! Well done with the mitts - haha, love the stunted one! xx

Perfect spot for puss to catch the sun.
Pretty blouse.
Look forward to see the cap!
The mittens will be warm and cosy even if the not the some size.

Lots of sewing done. I can't keep white to stay white either. Our water here turns everything light grey. Besides, I look kind of sick in white anyway. My wedding dress was cream. But kudos to you for finishing another garment. You are turning into a real seamstress. Looking forward to the golfer cap. The tweed is perfect for it. Sorry for the mittens, but you're not along mistaking cm for inches. :^( The stars are really cool as are the tray mats. Hopefully you will find what you need at the destash day. Enjoy! ;^)

How neat to repurpose that fabric into a cap! We also eat our evening meal on trays in front of the tv, our favourite part of the day.
Love the pretty stars and also great and practical tray mats. I wish I knew how to cast on to make socks...someday I'll figure that out. Happy Stitching!

the tray mats are a great idea - we eat off stable tables in front of the TV too...
Good luck with the cap - I'm sure April will have some tricks for you to help.
I am in a group that had a display at Jumpers & Jazz...the one that had spots for you to stand on to take a selfie...I may have contributed 20 flowers or so - not much! Hope you enjoyed it.

Your kitty certainly isn’t silly. A purrfect spot. I so love your latest scrappy project. You find the ideal patterns. Have fun making the cap. The jacket should be ideal. Make sure you use that Harris Tweed label in something you make from the jacket.

I love how us quilters always find something to make with leftover fabrics. Looking forward to seeing how the cap turns out....the perfect fabric for it.
