Keeping positive....

Avoiding the death glare after an allergy sneeze seems to be the daily challenge...

I do hope you all are keeping okay, I do realise most of us will get through this but it is a scary and challenging time for us all, and self isolation can be very hard for some.... take care, wash hands well and avoid close contact as much as possible....

This week I have been focussing on my scraps....

Now I have moved on from sewing tumblers together (I gave a big box to a friend - not sure it was being generous or offloading a problem!!)

For ages I have wanted to do a pineapple quilt and a couple of years ago I ordered a book and speciality ruler....

This will be my new leaders and enders project but I made up one block for a trial.

For the moment I am going to limit to using my teal, purple and pink strips scraps for these....

I also hand sewed down the binding on a couple of little quilts made from tumblers...

I am getting a nice little pile of these to be sent away....

Another long awaited one is my black and white scraps, I sewed lots and lots of strips together and then knew I wanted to add curved stitching with this piece of green meterage I had.... I just wasn't sure how I was going to put it together...

Well, I have made up my mind.. these blocks are cut at 12 1/2" square and I will have enough for 16 then add borders....  a bit different and I feel a bit challenged to the improvising method of sewing.  I do like a pattern to follow!!!

A little bit of hand stitching at night …..

I am sure many of you are a bit like me and staying at home more just means more stitching time....  I am trying to keep positive and also link up with friends in different ways.... luckily for us with technology it is a bit easier these days...

Keep well friends, keep stitching and keep washing hands....

Righto, Gotto Go... I am going to make that stitchery into a little something today....

yYou have some lovely projects going on. I do like the green curves in your black and white quilt.
It is good that we can still be socially close using the www and our hobbies. Maybe Friday night sewing with friends should be an every week thing for a while.

My allergies have gotten worse this. year and the last cold triggered them off, so I do cough a lot more and of course I am sure I scare people, lol. I always carry a tissue in my pocket for that reason. Love. your new projects, I do need to get better at my piecing.

I like Pineapple quilts. Not sure I would tackle one though. I had no idea it needs a special ruler. Looking forward to more on that one. The black and white quilt is very interesting. I love what you did with the green curves. This is so different than what you usually do. Your stitchery is so lovely as always. I want to live in the orange house please. You can have the one with the topiary. Hahaha! ;^)

Love your black and white and green curvy blocks, you are doing well for someone who prefers a pattern! People like us who sew and stitch will never be bored during our isolation, that's for sure......although humans are (mostly!) social animals, and we need contact with others.

Lovely projects you have going on! Staying home is challenging but I am sure we will all find new ways to entertain ourselves and online shopping is sure to boom. I just hope our bricks and mortar shops can stay in business.

I love how pineapple blocks look, but I'm not sure I have the patience for them. Maybe the special ruler helps! I had a coughing fit in the grocery store yesterday and felt so bad I ran outside, leaving DH to pay. I just got panicky, thinking people would wonder if I had "IT"! Pretty sure it was just a reaction to the strong perfume of the clerk, though :P

Lovely scrappy work Fiona. So fortunate that the internet enables us all to encourage each other at this time - even though it does spread the bad news faster! Theres a plus and minus to everything. The thing I am most grateful for is that the cold calls have stopped. Stay safe and well. xx

The Pineapple Blocks are a fabulous leader and ender project using up your scraps too.
Cute wee Tumbler quilts and the B/W improv blocks will made a great blokes quilt...
Sweet stitchery keeping you busy in the evenings...

Beautiful work. How are you finding the pineapple ruler? The blocks look very accurate. I see it is Creative Grids. Their rulers are usually pretty good. I use the Ultimate Flying Geese Ruler, which I love. Is the little stitchery one of Anni's or Natalie's, or someone else? It is very cute.
