Race Day ................

Frocks and hats are dress up clothes for race day .....
(Melbourne Cup... the race that stops a nation!)

I couldn't get my one dress on - for some reason over the last few years it has shrunk terribly whilst hanging in the cupboard .....

..... So I chopped the top half off and squeeeeeeeezed into the skirt .....

A sarong was turned into a 'hat' .......

..... And I was ready to sew.....

The morning was spent chattering and I worked on my ABC ....

.... Just before race time this young kookaburra decided to swing on the tv aerial cord!!!

...... But found the aerial bars provided a much better view for hunting for a feed .....

.......... the tension mounted as the race started and we all hoped we had backed a winner ......

..... The horse I was allocated came in last ......

...... and I really shouldn't have had that second slice of caramel tart .....

Righto, Gotta Go..... exhausted......

Love your solution to the wardrobe shrinkage. Was remembering recently how it is a much bigger deal there than here in lots of ways. For us it's just another holiday.

Clever outfit. I have cut a few dresses up like that and used the skirt. I guess we cant all have the winners, but it would be nice sometimes, wouldnt it. Sounds like you all had a good day.

Isn't it funny how our clothes shrink if they stay in the closet too long? Love the outfit you made, and it looks like you had a fun day, despite choosing the wrong horse.

Spending time with friends is one of the best things we can do with our time xx

Love your bright fun quilt from last post! I love the Melbourne Cup more now I am not living in Melbourne, then I ever did when I lived there and actually went! Such fun to have an excuse to dress up and try to pick a winner in a sweep!
