Bits and bobs..........

I have felt rather lost this week..... too much to do so little time.....!!!!

Since I am going to travel I thought I would make myself a travel document holder from Anni Downs book Some Kind of Wonderful  ...

The little stitching patch was fun .....

... that's the front....

...the pattern says to use heavy duty iron on interfacing.... so I drove off and found some yesterday afternoon HERE at Quilters Angel (which was good because I had no idea what I was looking for!) .....

Anni does warn "This is difficult to do, so be persistent" ..... that is true - it is really hard..... but it can be done...
it's like cardboard..... really stiff cardboard .....

I'm just sorry I prepared 4 of them so I had some for gifts.... I will do these in short bursts of aerobic energy!

When I need a rest I am preparing stitcheries to take with me.......

.... this will be my next main project.....

well.... butterfly garden is great to sit on with grandiegirls... this one is for sitting on with grandieboys.....

if you would like to see some samples of this quilt
HERE is Marina's and HERE is the one Sharon did...... they are both stunning and where I fell in love with it..... and I was so pleased when I was given the book from Kris as a thank you gift .....

This is rather a cute picture I stole from my daughter... this is widget when he came to visit... he loves our dog and so he attached the load lifter to his bike, put on Tarka's suitcase bed and invited Tarka for a ride... and off they went....

we have concrete veranda all round the house... perfect for bike riding....

Righto, Gotto Go...... mess to make....

That is super cute - but I don't envy you working with that heavy-duty interfacing! Short bursts is best. I LOVE your next quilt to work on. And that is such a darling picture of widget, too funny!!!

I have to agree. That heavy duty interfacing can be very hard to handle. It is great and works well, but in between a few harsh words are spoken!!
That's a lovely new project to take on. Enjoy.
What is it about kids and dogs. They do get on so well together. Great photo.

Oooh, Fiona, you're going on an adventure? Wonderful! Your little travel document holder looks very sweet, and the quilt for the grandsons is very adorable, too! And I LOVE that photo of your little grandson giving Tarka a "lift"....just too, too cute! My Noah would never have sat still for that, so your Tarka must be very good with children! :o)

Wherever you are going on your travels, I hope you have a fabulous time!

XOXO,

Cyndi

the document will be so worth the extra effort with the stiffening, it looks gorgeous! yay you are starting your boys story quilt. It will be a perfect travel project (other than hexies of course).
Love the photo of widget. There is something special about dogs and kids hanging out together.
She looks quite happy to be carted around.
Happy mess making!

What a patient dog you have. My friend had "fun" with that travel wallet too - she made 3 of them , , so I guess it got easier as she went.

That time will be gone before you know it! Like you I have been dancing quicker than normal, because there is so much to do and an increasingly smaller amount of time in which to get it done.

Aren't boys so - well boy-like.... Who else would go to the trouble of toting the dog around :) And it is sort of surprising that the dog cooperated...

Ha ha lucky Tarka getting a ridealong...I have some really heavy bag batting which is hard to turn through and when the going gets really tough I employ the forceps to pull through, they work a treat...
