I had previously finished with the cutting and slicing and started the stitching for son's T shirt quilt ....
having fiddled around with the sizes and placement so it could be made into equal sized strips...
there are T shirts I don't like much ......
.. those that make me nostalgic....
those depicting legends...
those that are morbid!.....
those that show good taste in the fabric design..... (only) .....
... those with dodgy stains a mother prefers not to think about.....
... those a mother would like to change.....
those that are inspirational (patchwork and quilting) .....
but they came together okay....
Thanks to Heidi and Bobbi who host FNSI - the way to get things done

(I used his favourite colours of yellow, green and red to make a patchy sashing and a dark charcoal/brown textured cotton for the outside border....
the back is a check which I have appliqued on a couple of the other 'bits' from T shirts to add a bit of interest.....
I am hoping to take advantage of the extralongFNSIbecauseIlivedownunder day and get the quilting started
Gotta Go..... lawn to be mowed, quilting to be done....

This is amazing!
I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised how well the tshirts look altogether like that :)
Looks great Fiona. I've been putting special t shirts of the boys' away for "one day"!
you have done a fantastic job! It looks great. I would applique 'your mother' over the top of that t shirt too.
Super!
Hi Fiona, I have just shown this post to my teenager and he loves the idea of hit t-shirt becomming another quilt. Looks like we will start saving some :o) Thank you AGAIN for the inspiration
whow Fiona, you are so clever that quilt is so awesome, well done my friend on another great project.xx
I'm sure that was far more challenging than the end result shows - manipulating sizes etc - but it will be such a treasure for your son.
Well done Fiona... it looks amazing. They went together nicely and I love the added bits on the back. I have a box full of the kids t'shirts to do this too as well. One day I am going to get around to putting them into a quilt as well... one day....
That's certainly a fun quilt!
Looks great How did you go using the t shirts to stop them stretching?
