Getting a quick win with finishing off the binding on this small quilt.
I was lucky enough to be invited to join the Brisbane girls in a sewalong for this quilt called Floral Fun. (Pattern in Quilters Companion #127) Susan drew up a helpful schedule which was not too much each month.
The original pattern is this and was done in raw edge machine applique...
I chose to do mine mainly using my Tilda scraps (I did need to buy some plain for the flowers) and to needleturn the flowers....
Civil War Bride is finally being quilted. I finished this top in September 2023 (started January 2021) I am probably going to stick to outlining the applique and some small detail like leaf veins etc. Slow and steady.
I finished off my 'looped picots' hardanger square..... I will need to wait for the next class for guidance to a new stitch in a couple of weeks....
A new crochet blanket has started using these colours......
This one was finished last year but I forgot to post about it.
Roughly 1.2m by 1.6m
Here are a pair of Sulphur Crested Cockatoo's waiting for some seed to be put out. I do love their cheeky characters and they are beautiful, but destructive and naughty too! For those not in Australia they are a big bird (about 1/2m in length) and make the most dreadful scary squawk!

Busy week for you already Fiona, love the cockatoos but you are right they are loud and noisy and they eat your wooden window frames and handrails if they can!
Floral Fun is a gorgeous finish ... well done!
So much work in your Civil War Bride quilt and your Hardanger is looking very good.
Great colours for your crochet blanket ... I can't even think of playing with wool yet.
Cheeky cockies ... we have the red tail black cockatoos making a racket morning and night.
Floral Fun is gorgeous - and so much nicer for being needleturned. The Hardanger is lovely - I wonder what comes next. The shell blanket is lovely too and the colours for your new project are pretty, I love that zingy pink. Have fun. xx
Floral Fun is so cute! I love the orange polka-dot binding. Congrats on starting the year with a finish. Good luck with CWB. Slow and steady wins the race. Lovely colours for the newest crochet blanket. Those birds are HUGE compared to the dart board. Yikes! They must eat a lot too. Enjoy! ;^)
Your floral quilt is just beautiful Fiona. Of course I am a sucker for anything Tilda. Some wonderful projects. I do remember those cockatoos from visiting my Aunt in Melbourne - yes they are loud & raucous but fascinating birds too. Yours look very tame. xx
Those cockies are very cheeky, they visit here too! Doing well on your Hardanger, I like the different colours together. Tilda flowers is pretty (although I do like the black and white version)....and Civil War Bride will be gorgeous.
You've had a busy start to the year. Love the Tilda quilt. So very pretty .
Lovely version of Floral Fun. Your Civil War is beautiful. Can't wait to see your lovely quilting on it. Congratulations on your Hardanger! Yes cockies are very naughty and so noisy....actually my alarm clock this morning trying to pinch the chook food next door. Happy quilting xx
You’re off to a flying start tot the year. Floral Fun definitely lives up to its name. It will be so good to have Civil War Bride quilted. Enjoy everything you do this year.
A very productive start to the New Year.
I really like your version of the quilt, the colors look beautiful together. Your civil war quilt is gorgeous, have always loved those patterns, and appreciate all the work you have put into it.
The weeks are already going by so fast I missed this first one....
Floral Fun is pretty in Tilda fabrics.
So good to be quilting the beautiful Civil War Bride top.
Great work to have the first Hardanger block done.
Good to have a new crochet ready to go after you finished the nice blue/white one.
Oh those cockatoos course so much damage in town as they roost in the trees by the hundreds.......Shire has to chase them away.
