The New Normal....

I think Blogger played a belated April Fool on me.... my post writing seems to be back to how it used to be... not sure what it was but I am pleased not to have to try and relearn how to blog.....

With extra time at home... I am sewing more.... so might be blogging more too!  sorry if I overload and no problem if you just want to scroll past....

My new to me quilt rack (thanks Michelle) was put up.  Hubz kindly painted it white to go with the rest of the room.  Another lovely corner and some more space for special cushions and things on the shelf....

..... and yes, I played a board game with Hubz called Sequence as recommended by Maria.  It is fun actually and I think I will enjoy more though of course I lost the game.... but a win getting the quilt rack up!

Then I took a leaf out of Janice's book and had lots of fresh air this weekend....

... this was my view... Saturday was cloudy and a little bit of a breeze, Sunday was sunny and glorious...

Firstly I used up scraps to make up the strips and my little Elna sewed a pretty edge (there is no blanket stitch so I improvised)

.. then I sewed all these blocks together and the border (which I had to do twice since I can't measure properly it seems!)  This project still needs a fair bit of work to get it to a finished top....

All the time sewing these two I led and ended with my pineapple blocks... and I now have a nice pile with their 4th round completed....

Trimming is a breeze with this ruler.... I feel I made a good investment....

At the end of Sunday I had to pack up..... my electrical cord holder has recently raised in value quite hugely..... and Hubz was in danger when he inadvertently tried to clean up and throw it out!!! hmmmph....

All in all a very successful weekend..... not much hand-sewing at night... I think the fresh air made me tired!  Little bit more done on the snowmen and a bit of crochet was done....

Righto, Gotto Go... back to a Monday routine and some quilting to do.... I hope I get outside next weekend again.  Anybody game to join me?

Love your new quilt hanger. I've been keeping an eye open for something similar for a while.
You have so many lovely projects going on. What are you doing with the fig tree fabrics?

You've inspired me to take my sewing machine outside on the back deck... when it warms up a bit later this morning. Can you believe it's only 11 degrees outside right now? It's like winter has arrived without warning here in Wollongong.
Your little quilt hanger is perfect in your lovely corner and I must say, I LOVE your sewing machine cover.

Very nice to sit and sew outside, we had a wet and cold weekend, hopefully it will be better next weekend. Your quilt hanger looks great, wonderful trade with hubby!! Great pineapple blocks.

I'm very happy to enjoy your pretty blocks and fabrics! Some of us sew more under stress, some of us less. It's all OK! Glad you could enjoy the fresh air. We're on the move, traveling back to the States. The Bahamas is starting to hint that they want us gone to reduce the number of people who might need medical help. We don't need to be told twice!!

Great to see the quilt rack and looking lovely in its special place. Good to have hubby on board. And I am sure he appreciated you playing the game.
Looks like you were very productive with your outdoor sewing. Love the idea but it has turned a bit chilly here.

Looks like a nice view of your garden from your sewing table. Janis was talking about an old Elna Mick was fixing for her. Is the Stella your main machine? I love your new quilt hanger.

Your quilt hanger looks lovely above your sewing machine. It was worth losing Sequence to have that happen. I'm so pleased you took your Stella outside. Isn't it a lovely way to sew. I've never thought to use that stitch for applique. I used to take my applique over to Mum's and use her Elna with the discs. It was weird though, as the blanket stitch is back to front to what we are used to and you had to have the item you were attaching to the right of the needle. Blanket stitch and a bigger throat were the reasons I upgraded to my Janome. I even quilted my first full sized quilt using my Stella.

I wish I could be as productive in my sewing room as you have been, lots of beautiful pieces and quilts in the works. Love your quilt rack, something I need to get my husband, to make. I was thinking of doing one with the long board that clamps the in.
