a postcard... and a growing quilt.... and a smokey sunset....

Mr Postie dropped off my "Fall" postcard today....

This came all the way from Linda in Canada  who I have only just met through this swap...  I love the clever stitching on the pumpkin and the use of selvage.. what a fun one is that sewing quote from The Sound of Music.  When Linda has received hers I will show you what I made.

I love the postcard swaps... they are just lovely small pieces of art.. and a fun way of meeting other bloggers....  thank you Sheila for organising this one....

The Boys Story quilt continues to grow... we now have a castle in the kingdom ....

... where dragons are fought and girls are frightened with spiders.....

.. and trains chug through the mountains....

.. the two blocks together ....

anyone who has made this quilt will notice things facing the 'other' way... I always forget to reverse but I don't think it matters at all....

Hot and dry and windy - dusty and smokey with fires at the moment...... this was the sun going down a couple of afternoons ago... the smoke was very heavy - quite far from us but it is early for such extreme fire warnings

 -
Righto, Gotto Go.......the weekend is here to enjoy...

How lovely to receive such a lovely and creative postcard! Your Boy's Story is looking great - such a fun quilt. I see that I've missed a couple of posts so have had a nice back-read - the Fiona Bug is truely unique!!! And the Aboroginal garden opening sounds like it was a great expereince.

I just love seeing this quilt grow!! I almost wish I had a boy, just so I can make this one (though, I am tempted to get the book just in case, lol! ... All else fails, I have a 2nd cousin who'd just love this!) .. Hope the fires don't get too close to you!! Us? Dad's been building a bonfire the last few nights as he tidy's up the property, so it's been smokey for us the last few nights and I know just who's to blame, lol! Enjoy your weekend!! xx

That's a lot of smoke. Can't believe how many fires are around so early in the season.

Lovely postcard and the quilt looks so much fun, I can imagine all the story telling surrounding the blocks. My Mum bought a duvet cover with lots of animals on for my two and we would sit and make up different stories every night

Linda's postcard is delightful! Imagine making a pumpkin from a hexie - pretty clever! I've had the opportunity to spend time with Linda and she is a wonderful person. You'll enjoy developing a quilty online relationship with her.
