My cushion .............

I got a lovely squishy in the mail yesterday ..... Christine sent me this lovely cushion in a secret partner swap....

.
at first sight of this fabric I didn't notice the darker pink but adding the pink backing and button it has brought out the subtle pink in the design of the fabric.... (it's mostly cream though the picture doesn't bring that out)

I love it Christine thanks .....

The cushion came stuffed and all so I didn't need to rush about finding an inner.... perfect....

I haven't 'met' Christine before so it is great to meet a new blogger

.... meanwhile .... back at the homestead I have been doing some redwork hand stitching....

this is a block from Rosalie Quinlans Scandanavian Rose..... a friend of mine purchased an extra set of linens and then decided she wouldn't need them both .... I'm sure they will make up into lovely individual items.

They are preprinted linens... beautiful fabric to sew and I have backed with parlan... a lovely soft cotton iron on backing... and sewing with Perle 8 (equivalent to 3 threads of DMC) - I love the little bit of gloss you get with the Perle.

As a lover of scrap quilts I have enjoyed making a couple of fun blocks (for swap blocks) recently - they would be perfect for scrappy quilts

.... this one is called a Wonky Pinwheel Block and a tutorial can be found HERE

this one is quite a lot of work - but I think it is so effective with the dark pinwheels and the light windmills...
(and it does use up quite small scraps!)

This one is a "Depression Block" - instructions for this block can be found HERE

Righto, Gotto Go.... the gloves are out... I'm quilting THIS prettiness this week.....

I made a small quilt in a version of the depression block. It was called Broken Dishes. Fun and effective but a bit of work. Love your cushion! Very pretty.

The cushion is lovely, such pretty, soft fabrics. I am so tempted by your Scandinavian rose stitching, redwork is hard to resist. I like the depression block too, would look great repeated.

Prezzies in the mail are just the best! Love the soft, classy color and style of the cushion you received. And your redwork? Besides your flawless stitches, anything with birds, hearts, LOVE and red is right up my alley! I bookmarked the wonky pinwheel tutorial...am on a scrappy quilt-making binge right now.
OK. Time for me to quit gawking at others' projects and get busy on mine! ;)

What a lovely cushion, love the addition of the button.
The pinwheel blocks are really interesting, it took a second look to see the double pattern.
