This little quilt is completed now....
24" square and the binding was hand sewn down last night watching the last episode of Vikings....
This embroidery has been my pick up in between projects for a while.... its a sweet stitchery and will eventually be made into a mini quilt for my stand... all it will need is some basic quilting to hold it down and a binding....
Crabapple Hills free February (embroidery month) is finished and I have done all the mini quilts for it too....
The last one was much bigger and lots of writing to do....
I have used an offcut piece of corflute and covered it with 2 layers of a thin polyester wadding then the fabric....
the back is a bit messy but the plan is that it won't be showing!!
These are just pinned for now.... a group of other enablers had a great chat group as we did this and so we have agreed to make one more which will be a swap and will go in the corner...
I did learn a number of new embroidery stitches doing this one
At the weekend I popped into an op-shop and found a bag of fabrics for $3... now how could I possibly leave them there...
when I got home and opened the packet I saw they are all fabulous quality cottons and larger than fat 1/4's (closer to 1/2m)
... as well as a dozen ready made blocks....
My staple yarn for the car is polyester fluff for dusters, scrubby for scrubbies (which I like using in the shower) and cotton for cotton washcloths ....
Just keeps my hands busy and I am using up yarn I already have....
Oh! You got a finish! Lucky girl! No, I should say; Congratulations! cause I know you worked at it. I'm not getting anything finished because I am not working on anything. Ha! You did a great job with your board and all the little stitcheries really pop nicely on it. I love the idea of doing a swap with the others for the last spot. Such a lovely memories keeper. I can hardly all the fabric you got for just three dollars. Big cha-ching! Enjoy the Schoolgirl Sampler sewing. ;^)
ReplyDeleteWonderful finish, well done! Your stitcheries look wonderful on the board, great idea to so a swap for the last one. You sound about as keen on the dusting as I am!! Great buy, that fabric. Enjoy your Schoolgirl Sampler day.
ReplyDeleteHello Fiona - love all your projects that you are working on - Love the green background fabric you have chosen. I agree - you could NOT possibly leave those wonderful fabrics for $3 sitting there. Yes I need to put some handwork projects in the car too - I always think of it when we have left on our journey. xx
ReplyDeleteA very sweet finish. What a great find at the op shop. The background fabric fits in beautifully with little stitcheries.
ReplyDeleteSweet embroideries - and a finish, well done! That's not a bad op shop buy at all, how come I never find interesting stuff like that? *grin*
ReplyDeleteThat canvas looks fantastic, what a great project
ReplyDeleteI love that little Santa Claus stitchery, especially the tiny Christmas lights. So cute! And your pink checkerboard finish is so sweet! Lots of other fun projects in the works for you, and with new fabric from the op shop, I'm guessing something new will grow out of that :)
ReplyDeleteYour little pink quilt is delightful. And so is the pink embroidery.
ReplyDeleteAll the February embroideries look great. Love the idea of an extra one. That is looking wonderful.
Looks like quite a bonus from the op shop.
Your little minis look great all together on that background. What a bargain you picked up there! xx
