I've been head down, butt up (and it is a considerable sized butt!!) on some secret stuff....
It's secret so I can't show you..... not even a sneaky peak.....
Did you know Toni is doing a pattern book? It's very marvellous ..... my secret stuff has a little bit to do with her book ... so shhhhh.... secret....
But I have still been stitching Michelle's alphabet bears....
E is for Elephant, Envelope..... I do love elephants ... in a past life I used to be stopped at the road to let the wild ones walk past - magnificent creatures .... E is for Extraordinary too....
A friend of mine popped by with a quilt she had bought which had gone chewed in the washing maching....
this was the hole in the quilt....
...and this is the cushion cover....
... it was a bit fiddly and I didn't have an exact match of fabric or thread but the cushion cover came up pretty good.... I had to patch both sides and add a bit of wadding inside.
... this is standing distance from it....
the quilt was a bit harder and I tea stained the fabric a little bit too much .....
... standing distance and it's not too bad at all...
I don't really like mending (in fact Hubz has been told my machine is a specialist machine and doesn't do mending --- shhh that's our secret ok) but this one was a fun challenge and didn't take too long
F is for Fairy, and Fiona.... and Fun ... and all sorts of marvellous words....
Righto, Gotto Go.... sun's gone behind a cloud.... I need to get some wooly socks on...
Wow great fixing. I always reckon if it passes the 3' test then it is okay. Wow. Love your alphabet bears too.
ReplyDeleteJust adore those alphabet bears
ReplyDeleteLove the alphabet bears - and your mending is absolutely brilliant, you'd never know they were patched, well done!!!
ReplyDeleteyou've done a great job with that mending. I'm with you on that subject I hate to waste my talents mending... but I would have made an exception with a quilt too.
ReplyDeletebeautiful new stitched bear blocks, they are so cute.
can't wait to see your secret sewing.
Such cute bears, and a marvellous job in your friends quilt, I'm sure she's over the moon it could be saved.

ReplyDeleteI will raise you wooly socks, jumper and the open fire roaring - come on down south lol...
Great save with the repairs.......it will add to the vintage look. Lovely stitching projects too. Looking forward to seeing your secret sewing.
ReplyDeleteYour cute little bears are looking gorgeous Fiona. Very clever of you to be able to patch those holes - think I would have put it in the "too hard" basket
ReplyDeleteGood mending job there Fiona! Looking forward to seeing your secret!
ReplyDeleteOMG What fantastic mending.. You are definitely a fabulous Fiona!
ReplyDeleteLove those Elebet blocks....
Great job with the mending, and with the stitcheries.......it's not cloudy here, it's a very clear night, and absolutely freezing!
ReplyDeleteWonderful mending job ! I would be hard pressed to tell what had been mended . Great job on the stitcheries too , they are adorable .
ReplyDeleteReally the washing machine made those holes, seriously I thought the dog had a chew. I want to know what type of machine your friend has so i can never buy one like it....it gives me the horrors, as I machine wash quilts regularly. Anyway I am super impressed with your mending job, it might not be perfect, but it is darn close. Besides a well loved quilt will have battle scars!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with the mending Fiona. Your stitcheries are coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteGood job with the mending. Wondering about that washing machine though. Love those beary cute bears. Hugs,xx
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the mending Fiona, the tea stain will fade out eventually so you will not be able to tell at all. The cushion looks perfect. Clever girl, I bet your friend was devo when she pulled them from the machine.
ReplyDeleteWell done with the mending Fiona, it won't be long and those meds will be even less noticeable. Your ABCs are very cute!
ReplyDeleteAmazing rescue mission! Well done. Of course I love Ellie's too. Boy I need to get cracking with my ABCs. Best of wishes to Toni with her book xx
ReplyDeleteGreat work on the fixing-up Fiona - you are so clever!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Toni's book - I've got a few of her patterns & can't wait to see what's in the book - I think I know what you've been up to, in secret...
Fantastic mending job Fiona.... & your secret is safe with me too... xox
ReplyDeletewhat a challenge, and it's given them an extended life time. Well done
