I am so not ready for December....
I needed another lesson on looped picots for my Hardanger - so nothing more to show there. I received a couple of learner books from Jennifer and they are helping me learn... thanks so much
Over the year Susan and I have been sewing Be My Neighbour blocks each month..... I got my binding hand sewn down this week so I have a finish... it's being called Debs' Village.
I did in the ditch quilting around the buildings and windows... some lines in the borders but it has kept it nice and soft. As you can see in the next picture the backgrounds are different colours. Quite a cheerful village I think, it's had a wash and ready for the right time to gift...
I did start on another Caswell block.... poor quilt has been severely neglected. I do love doing the needleturn so not sure why it seems to take a back seat so often....
I had a single ball of this lovely soft thick yarn and made up this beanie.... well I had to do a few attempts so that I could get it all out of the one ball.... done now and this will go into the KOGO pile for next year. Another square was done too.
Blue stripey crochet blanket has come to a halt as I did not estimate the yarn well enough and didn't have anything here that would suit so have ordered on line and waiting for delivery so I can finish it off.
Not been a good week for estimating yarn amounts!!!
Righto, Gotto Go - we went into Brisbane yesterday to watch a day of The Ashes, a rivalry cricket game between Australia and England.... had such a fun day. The Gabba is going to be torn down - another place built for the Olympics, so this will be the last of the Ashes Tests here..... evening break as the sun goes down.

Your Debs Village quilt looks amazing Fiona. How beautiful. Such a shame to be tearing down that wonderful building & venue. xx
ReplyDeleteGood to learn new things. I am sure you will master it. Your Neighbours quilt is beautiful and such a sweet little hat.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the cricket. No1 son was there too xx
Glad to hear the books are helping, Fiona! Love your Village quilt, it's great fun. Don't say the Gabba is going to be torn down....at what cost? How many squillions, I wonder?
ReplyDeleteI love your Neighbour Village…. Lucky recipient.
ReplyDeleteCute beanie . So annoying when you ru out of threads/yarn.
Lovely day at the Gabba ..who do you support?
Lucky you to go to the test. It was good to get the full 4 days play. One of our neighbours went up. They go each year. I didn’t realise they are demolishing The Gabba.
ReplyDeleteYour village did turn out well. It looks like a town of sweeties.
Your village quilt does look lovely and great to see Caswell again. I either have too much yarn or not enough! The less said about the cricket the better I think! Glad you enjoyed your day.xx
ReplyDeleteSometimes hand-stitching projects sit on the back-burner because other project (which we estimate will be done quickly) take the centre stage. I'm also the bearer of this stupid chromosome, lol. I hadn't notice that the Village background fabric were of different colours. So cool! Congrats for getting all done and ready to be gifted. Congrats also on using up the entire single ball of yarn. No leftover! Yay! Awesome picture of the stadium. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteYour neighbourhood looks very friendly. I wouldn't have the patience to applique on all those berries and your beanie looks very cosy.
ReplyDeleteThe Olympics, my heart leaps with joy,
ReplyDeletewe're coming to you...
at least via TV. That will be wonderful.
Your village is beautiful; whoever gets that as a gift is incredibly lucky.
The hat turned out cute, the yarn looks fantastic.
Have fun knitting, crocheting, and sewing... as well as with your sporting activities.
Warmest regards to you.
Viola
Your village quilt does look lovely. Great to have a finish, too.
ReplyDeleteYou chose a good match to see at the cricket. Glad you didn't plan for a day or so later!
We are taking our US family to a 20/20 match at the MCG next week. I hope it is just as exciting.
