Always fun to sew with friends... live or virtual.... and last night it was a virtual sew in hosted by Cheryll...
Cold wet day here so the whole day was spent in the sewing room.....
Since I had made up new Bondi tops I took out some of my older ones which I had made with too wide a neck and made a funny tuck... they worked but I was happy to replace them.... The fabric was still good, if a little faded from our strong sunshine but I felt not worth throwing out so I have 'upcycled 3 of them' and cut the seams etc off and still had nice size pieces of fabric...
I made up a couple of bucket hats using this free pattern and tutorial.... I made the first one Large which was a little loose so the next one is Medium
Then I was going to make the blocks for the border of the flannel quilt but realised I had missed out a border ... so I sewed those on...
Today I will cut the blocks for around this border....
... and this little bird didn't take long at all....
Last night watching TV (we are catching up on Season 2 of The Split as Season 3 is now uploaded) I continued stitching Field Journal blocks...
There was only a couple of daisies to complete on this block...
You are on a roll with your summer sewing. Pretty fabrics. Gorgeous stitcheries. The rain is back....again!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAll your projects are great. I especially love how your embroidery projects are turning out.
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous butterfly on your Field Journal block
ReplyDeleteI think you need a Bondi top & matching hat now!

Love the butterfly and daisies! Well done on the hats.....I made a hat years ago and have never made another, although it wasn't difficult. Just never got around to it, I suppose.....

Love seeing your sewing projects and those hats look fun to make. I really need to start making clothing and things again, tired of buying clothes I am not that happy with. Your stitcheries are beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThe flannel quilt is looking really good... and I’m sure you’ll get plenty of wear out of the hats xox
ReplyDeleteThe hats are great Fiona, perfect for your summer weather up there. Great to repurpose the tops. Your stitchery blocks are lovely and the flannel quilt looks wonderful too.
