First finish is when you finish the first part of a project... but there is still more to finish it more...
For instance I have finished the stitching for this blackwork project....
It has been such a fun project to do.... the stitching took much longer than I thought and the target of one sweet a week kept me focussed....
This was sewn with a group of friends (online for me) and makes it such fun to do. Thanks ladies.
I received a lovely parcel from Shez this week.... for some reason (like moving interstate) she was late for my birthday..... I guess it is a valid excuse!....
Shez has been making lovely lovely clutch bags and now I own one. Just love these colours. I now like to only take my phone shopping, I need glasses so either sunnies or plain need to be in the bag while I wear the other pair.... this size bag is perfect and easy to hold over my wrist whilst carrying shopping bags...
I sew every night after eating and in front of the TV..... every night unless we are out.... and every night I drop something... a thimble, my thread, my scissors and Hubz eyes roll so hard I am worried they will stick at the back of his head....
Some scraps got sewn together... and some firm bag wadding
sew in the corners and a tray was born..... although I love the pretty stripes I thought a light inside would be better so I can actually find what I need!
It is a size that sits comfortably on the arm of the chair and I can fit quite a bit in it..... so far so good and Hubz eyes are in less danger of being stuck!
There are loads of video's etc on line.... these are a couple of free ones which I used as a guide

Grandieboy Widget had footy this weekend.... we got front row seats ... sitting in the car with my crochet.... this blanket is growing very slowly and is very wavy but it will be good for snuggling under.
My new recipe for the week is Magic Slice, Lou made some and it just sounded too deliciously wicked not to make...
It is so easy peasy and yummy scrummy... I used this recipe HERE but there are several variations online of course....
Took some to stitching and it went down a treat.... will definitely be making it again.
Righto, Gotto Go... a piece of that slice with a cup of tea would go down well!
Have a lovely rest of the week.....x
Those sweeties are just stunning. The perfect set for your evening sewing. What a great spot of view footy from. I could go one of those slices now. Must check out the recipe...anything easy has my name on it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a handy set of holders for you to use at night! Hopefully they will stop poor hubz's eye from rolling :) Lovely gift you got from Shez! xx
ReplyDeleteWell done on the blackwork, Fiona - it is very pretty! I like your tray idea, I have a basket tray which once held a food gift. I have bookmarked Lou's slice....it sounds very decadent!
ReplyDeleteThose blackwork sweets are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour tray etc look perfect BUT don’t knock the whole down. 😉
Even though I have no luck baking I reckon I can master the Magic Slice.
Hi Fiona thankyou for supporting me and glad you like your very late birthday gift.
ReplyDeleteWow I love your black work it looks amazing ,well done.
Your magic slice looks yummy and how much fun to watch your grandie boy play footy ,it’s fun watching the grandies play there sport.
Hope you have a wonderful week my friend 💕💕💕
Your blackwork stitching is so pretty. You made some useful items to help with your evening sewing...that's funny about your hubby's eye rolling :)
ReplyDeleteYour first finish looks amazing, so much stitching in there. Great holder for yout sewing bits and pieces, hope hubz eyes are lots more relaxed now 😀. Lovely present from Shez. That slice looks amazing, enjoy your snack and cuppa. You have the perfect place to get some crochet done.
ReplyDeleteThe blackwork is gorgeous. Love the holder. Glad hubz eyes won't be rolling anymore. :) Hugs, xx
ReplyDeleteI meant to add "as being stuck at the back of his head wouldn't be good".
ReplyDeleteYour blackwork project is amazing. Love looking at all the different designs on each island. Fabulous work. Congrats on getting all the stitching done. Shez really knows how to spoil her friends. Lucky you! Love your little tray. Great solution and a beautiful one too. I use an over-the-armrest pocket with pockets to store all the different remotes. The middle section is a tray so you can put your drink or bowl of goodies. Hubby rolls his eyes whenever I use it to hold my sewing notions. Haha! I should make my own little tray and let him have his. ;^)
ReplyDeleteLittle trays are very useful. I use my grandmothers wooden tray, but my hubby rolls his eyes when I drop things on to it. He says it's noisy, maybe I should make a tray cloth. LOL
ReplyDeleteI see I have enabled a few people to try out the magic slice. It is so easy and tasty too. Enjoy yours.
Your sweets stitching is delightful and broken down into bite size pieces makes it a good sew along project.
A lovely post Fiona. Love your blackwork project & look forward to seeing whether you frame or canvas it - either would be lovely. Your gift from Shez is wonderful - how kind of her. Her bags are gorgeous .. I see them on Istagram. Love, love the little fabric tray thingy & think I might have to steal that idea as I end up with all sorts of bits down the side of the sofa.
ReplyDeleteYour blackwork is beautiful! I have a tray of doom beside me....I try to keep it tidy lol! Yours is very swish! Our family calls that slice...ONE BOWL SLICE and it is very delish!
ReplyDeleteThat blackwork is amazing. Beautiful work. Framing sounds like a perfect idea.
ReplyDeleteSmart move making that tray. I always worry if I drop pins or needles.
Your blackwork is beautiful Fiona.
ReplyDeleteLovely first finish on the blackwork panel. I have been admiring Shez's bags on Instagram - lucky you to own one! The tray is a great idea and it's matching companion. xx
ReplyDeleteClever idea for the flat tray & scrap bucket - but very funny description of the eye rolling.
ReplyDeletegorgoeus bag from Shez! She does a lovely job.
and we always love a quick easy & tasty recipe!
ReplyDeleteFantastic idea that is so practical & useful...xox
