Very pleased to say I am caught up on my Blackwork Garden....
Wheat
Echinops
Teasel
(I've noticed a couple of missing stitches so I need to fix that up) This one was a bit of a nightmare and lots of unpicking and I know I am still out.... but it's staying like that
Gardenia
This is the garden to date.... the beds get given out weekly on Fridays.... so I will do my best to keep up
The Quilt Club has a challenge each year.... I didn't enter but they were given a black and white outline picture of this Rainbow Lorikeet and the challenge was to make it any way they liked...
This one block wonder quilt was on display at the show.....
Sue had asked me to quilt it for her in an all over design....
I left the red border plain and did leaves down the fabric border to give it a slight difference
This week at quilt group I took along my big half hexagons and am starting to put them together rather randomly....
As they are big pieces it's actually quite hard to handle and a bit clumsy.... but it will happen slowly
Righto, Gotto Go, storms are predicted and whilst I could do without damaging winds I am hoping for a good dollop of rain....
Have a lovely rest of the week.....
such pretty interpretations of the Lorikeet task.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilting Fiona, doesn't take away from the design at all.
Love those big half hexies, the fabrics are beautiful.

ReplyDeleteYour stitchery garden is looking wonderful Fiona. Gosh there were some stunning Rainbow Lorikeets that the ladies created. Hard to choose a winner.
ReplyDeleteThe lorikeet idea is very interesting! Love your garden, it's coming along.....have you ever looked up "Elizabethan knot gardens'? Your friend's quilt is lovely, and your quilting really compliments it. Well done on the half hexies too.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking wonderful Fiona, mu Mum used to use teasels in her floral art and no two were the same! The lorikeets are all beautiful, is an interesting challenge. The One Block Wonder is stunning and quilted beautifully by you. Good to see the hexies going together. Hope the rain is good and not the wind!
ReplyDeleteLovely work on the garden. i think it looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilting, too, on the one block wonder. Beautiful work.
Hope the storms were gentle.
Your garden is growing beautifully. How big will it be when finished?
ReplyDeleteThe quilting in the One Block Wonder looks lovely.
Enjoy stitching your half hexies….
Your garden is coming along so beautifully. I enjoyed seeing the Rainbow Lorikeet challenge. Thanks for sharing. Great job on the quilting of the One Block Wonder. It looks great! As we assemble English Paper Pieces, it does become cumbersome fast. I do segments at work, like a dozen or so, and then attach the segments together at home. For your project, I would suggest maybe 8 or 10 pieces. If you always sew them the same way in order to have the same shape, it will be easy to assemble the quilt after. Just my twopence. Hope the rain was good and the wind mild. ;^)
ReplyDeletethe blackwork is looking great........
ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge - QLD Quilters do the same challenge thing every year - a bit boring!
ReplyDeleteOne day I will do a one block wonder - they look great...esp with lovely quilting...
and I forgot to say how gorgeous your garden is ...
ReplyDeleteYou don’t realise how much work there is in your black work garden until you see it as a whole. There aren’t too many blank areas to fill. The variety of interpretations of the rainbow lorikeet are impressive. So clever, as are you and Sue with creating One Block Wonder. It’s amazing what can be achieved with fussy cutting.
ReplyDeleteYour blackwork garden is lovely...so worth the effort of wrangling that Teasel bed...love the rainbow lorikeet interpretations in the challenge...the one block wonder is beautiful, perfect complimentary quilting...
ReplyDeleteWow your blackwork gsrden is looking stunning! It's wonderful how everyone interprets the same design do differently. Lovely quilting on your friends quilt xx
