Friday night had a group of cyber friends sewing together hosted by Cheryll.... even though I sew most nights it's fun to join in and then visit the gang over the weekend....
I finished off the needle-turn on my 7th (of 20) blocks for Civil War Bride...
.. and here all the blocks are so far.....
A couple of cooler days and nights got me to light the fire..... it was a beautiful warm day again today so it's off again now.... sometimes I just feel chilled to the bone and the warmth of the fire helps...
Today I did some foundation paper piecing.....
these are little 2.5 inch blocks ... and I need to make 12 of them as a start.....
FPP is not a favourite technique of mine but I have to admit I am in love with this tiny piecing....
Mrs Magpie was hiding behind one of our pots this week and walking very dazed... not sure if she had been hit by a car, or attacked, and it was a cold day so I left her quietly in the sun....
She lets me come close but has never liked to be touched so I didn't go right to her.... after a few hours she went off , but didn't come for snacks the next day
Today we found her dead body in the garden... sad, sad, sad..... Hubz buried her near our olive tree. Sweet girl brought us a lot of pleasure.....
Righto, Gotto Go... off HERE to read what others did on Friday... then I might go back and sew some more of those teeny blocks...
sorry about the magpie, she was a great character. Love those little FPP blocks. They're really pretty

I love the peacock block. Very vibrant. I'm intrigued by your FPP project. The block would have been a fun challenge to make. Your work turned out very precise. Poor Maggie. It will be missed, as they are such friendly birds.

we had one cold day here too - Wednesday I think - socks & jacket for me...and today we are back to almost needing the air con!
What a shame about Mrs Magpie- you will miss her. I do love the little fpp block and another gorgeous applique block - the peacocks are so lovely. xx
ReplyDeleteYour peacocks are absolutely beautiful. Sorry to hear about your maggie.
ReplyDeleteSo sad Maggie died .. it’s like she wanted to visit and say Bye.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Peacocks to add to the other lovely blocks....
Your tiny FPPed block is amazing...
Your blocks look stunning together. Your work is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd those tiny paper pieced blocks scare the daylights out of me.
I am very sorry to read about Mrs Magpie. I have enjoyed her adventures with you.
Wonderful peacock block! Love all the colours and gorgeous fabric. CWB blocks together look like an heirloom already. I wish I could start one too. So little time!!! That pineapple block is amazingly small. FPP is not my favourite either. So sad about your loss. Mrs. Magpie was so fun to read about. Maybe it was just old age? You sure did make her life nicer in her last year. She was grateful for your friendship, otherwise, she wouldn't have chosen your garden for her resting place. Enjoy the warmth of a good fire. Our days are getting so much longer and warmer. Yay! ;^)
ReplyDeleteYour appliqué is exquisite! I struggle with small tight curves. Yours are so smooth. Beautiful blocks.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your magpie friend. It's a special delight to interact with wild animals and birds, and their world can be harsh.
ReplyDeleteOh that is very sad about Mrs Magpie Fiona ... I felt so sad when I read this as have enjoyed seeing her pop up on your posts. Your work & detail is amazing as always.
ReplyDeleteSo sad that you lost your friend. ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteYour quilt blocks are amazing.
Love the peacock block. So pretty. The foundation pieced block sure is cute. Sorry to hear about the magpie. :( Hugs, xx
ReplyDeleteOh how sad...poor Maggie! Sad for you too....you'll miss her! CWB is fabulous....and crazy doesn't cover those teeny Foundation pieced blocks lol! Bowing down in admiration here xx
ReplyDeleteHow sad that Magpie will not be around any more. We get attached to our outdoor friends. Nice to see your Civil War Bride blocks all together and the little PP.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful block, as well as the others you have done. Sorry to hear about your Magpie, I always get sad when one of my regulars goes missing. We have a few hawks and lots of predators, so I try to keep the feeding to a minimum and the feeders in safe spots.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I love the bird block at the top, it is coming along very nicely :-)
