15 minutes a day....

I do a lot of hand sewing... at night in front of the TV after we have eaten... most evenings I get a couple of hours done ...

This week I have completed another block towards Civil War Bride....  it felt like I was never going to get through those leaves!!!

2 down..... 18 more and a big border to go....

I have scraps (and non scrap projects) that need machine sewing and that gets neglected due to other things during daylight hours.....

My blue scrap basket is out to play.... here she has made a bit of a mess next to my seat....

I am using inspiration from this book.....

Victoria uses smaller pieces and different shapes.....  I have to admit I have to kind of force myself not to cut everything I am using into nice regular shapes.....

Making a piece of fabric from scraps then chopping it up to shapes I want.....

... as you can see I am trying to learn to accept odd shapes!!!

I will make up these blocks and border the two long sides in the yellow and then join them together

I am hoping this will make a usable quilt that doesn't look too bad....

I certainly don't manage 15 minutes each day but some days I take more!!  It is easy to lose track of time when the machine comes out????

This week is Friday Night with Friends... hosted by Cheryll..... anyone can join.. just pop over HERE to sign up and do a post over the weekend showing what you crafted.....

Righto, Gotto Go.... I am doing my 15 minutes today!!  after coffee of course!

  2. I could have written a book like that, as it is right up my alley. :^D I love making "yardage" with scraps (or crumb blocks) and then cut them up again to size. We are doing the same kind of quilt. Mine, as you probably know is sashed with gray on the long sides. Are all your crumb blocks blue? It will be just wonderful with the yellow. Oh! can't wait to see more. Enjoy! ;^)

  4. A lot of leaves but a beautiful block and beautiful work. I do love playing with scraps, I think that is my most favorite way to quilt.

  9. Isn't it funny how easy/difficult things are for each of us? Your beautiful applique looks impossible to me, but the improv scrap blocks are something I do for mindless fun. And yes, the time does just fly away once we get into the sewing :)

  11. Your appliqué leaves look great! I still struggle with bulk in the points. Also with inside corners. What method do you use?

  14. I think your Improv quilt will be great - and who knows you might get rid of some scraps!!!

I too find it harder to get to the machine bits - easy to hand sew when watching TV

  15. The centre block turned out beautifully. Worth all those hours of stitching. Have fun with your improv quilt. You’re being quite adventurous lately. I think it is a bit out of my comfort zone.
