Now it's March!!!!

It is officially Autumn here now... I am looking forward to some cooler temperatures - especially at night time.... this last summer has been particularly brutal....

Australia is out of toilet paper!!! for some reason people are buying it up like mad in fear of coronavirus... doesn't make sense to me at all - we make it here, the virus doesn't give you the squirts ….. oh well.... whatever blows your hair back...

Being March I decided to put some plans in place for my crafting....

I am going to continue with putting tumblers together.....

This is my second top this size... and I am working on some little ones....

There are far more tumblers than I thought I had... I will get 3 of these size and 3 little ones using up the lighter fabric in between... then a couple of any colours together.

Any ideas of where quilt tops can be sent to be made up for some charity.  I'm not sure when I will get to quilting so if someone takes in tops I would be happy to send.... otherwise there might be a wait....  My personal preference is an ongoing need (as opposed to a one off supply)  I have somewhere I send small baby quilts already.

I have joined in with the Sunday Stitchers on their Facebook UFO challenge..... this month is #1 which is my Wings quilt top.

I have all 4 borders of elongated hexagons together....

… and 4 little butterflies for the corners sewn.....

We have until the 15th of March and then a new number will be chosen.....

This months WOOFA project is to be my Black and White scrappy curved blocks....

I'm not really sure how it will come together.... but the scraps are being used and a bigger piece of bright green that I had....

I am going to work steadily on my Field Journal blocks.... and try and do at least one a week... if not more...

Getting some practice with stem stitch....

… and some more... with French knots....

I love these delicate pictures.... and sew once a month with a couple of friends who are doing the same project... we are all at different stages and it keeps us all motivated.

I have had these pretty fabrics in my stash for a while... there were 25 blocks and I cut them all down to 10"...

This month I want to sew them together then cut it all up again.....

  2. Those blocks at the end are pretty ... look forward to seeing what you make with them. Quilt tops can be sent to the Aussie Heroes Quilts & Laundry Bags to be gifted to defence force personell serving overseas. They do need to be a particular size to fit the bunks, but their website has all the deets. Happy stitching! :0) Bear Hugs! KRIS xx

  7. Your embroidery is stunning, the colours are spot on. This is a nice hand project to do in a group, much easier then lugging a machine to an outing! I would contact your local guild to see if they have a list of anyone taking quilt tops.

  11. Your stitcheries are just so lovely! And I like the direction you're going with the black/white/green pieces. Very fun! I know places in the US that will take your unquilted tops, but I'm sure you'd rather find someplace local.

  12. More beautiful work and I do like the tumbler blocks. I have the die cutter for them, a future quilt.
Here is is masks and gloves, I just stay home and stay outdoors, not worth going in stores if I don't have to.

  15. Lots on the go again Fiona. I love that green with the black and white. Gorgeous butterflies and hexagons. What is it about toilet paper! The UK seems to run out at the drop of a hat/virus/brexit etc. Doesnt seem to be the same problem here in France. Enjoy Maarch. xx

  18. You have a busy time planned. I am loving seeing the field journal embroiders. They are all so delightful.
You must have a mountain of tumblers if can can predict that many projects as a result. I will watch those grow.
The black and white looks really interesting, too, especially with the pop of green.
Good luck with all the project plans - and the search for toilet paper! Haha!
