Hello April......

There were a few clever April fools things on line.... this was the sweetest that I saw....

An article which mentioned that few people knew that some baby koala's are born with a leopard spot to their fur..... …  I have to admit I did find that very interesting until I realised the date!

Yesterday I sewed with friends (as is my weekly habit).  I started off with making the lining and outer for a wheatbag for my local daughter.  I will finish it off this week as I have some wheat mixed with lavender....

Then I worked on this weeks blocks for the Quirky Quilts mini.... 5 little 9 patch blocks (3 1/2")

Les Courtiers continues..... these are 3 1/2" also and the pattern asked for foundation piecing but I have chosen to just cut and piece.  However it did take me a few goes to work out the exact sizes for the pieces (I am so no good at that sort of mathematical design type of thing)

I still struggle with bulky seam joins even with starch, and pins, and fine thread and sewing carefully....

.. next week I will work on the flying geese (also suggested in foundation piecing by I will do it the easy no waste way (if you don't know it just google and there are heaps of tutorials and size charts))

… and another set of blocks for One Block Wednesday - also 3 1/2" blocks

So lots of little blocks this week.…. 39 to be exact.....  a busy day and not much fabric used for it all! Patchworking is cheap entertainment if you consider the hours spent....

I have managed to finish off the 4 postcards I had planned for March....

… and I have April's one's ready and waiting next to my chair....

In my garden the  pot plants really enjoyed the bit of rain … nothing like a proper soak even though we do manage to keep the water up in the shade house...

.. the fuschia's are having a lovely burst of fresh flowers...

.. and my pretty 'revolution' hydrangea is shading from pink to green now as the flowers begin to dry...

Righto, quilting jobs to do today ….   I hope you all have a lovely rest of the week....

  8. Lots of fiddly blocks there Fiona. I do LOVE the fabric you have used for the wheat bag. My fuchsias are just coming out of hibernation and following our mild winter are already showing the odd flower. I am looking forward to finding a new one for my collection. Your postcards are coming along nicely too. xx

  15. Don't you wish there really were spotted koalas? So cute! I love seeing your fuchsias, so pretty and fresh. I used to have a few hanging pots of them when I lived in California. They don't seem to grow much in Florida. Have a wonderful week!
