This week ChooseDay sewing with the girls changed to Wednesday...… whatever the day we had fun and lots of sewing got done...
Firstly I added the small white border to my pinwheels quilt... and made up the binding.... Now I need to sort the backing and put it in the 'waiting to be quilted' pile....
Next I made up this quilt.... the blocks are cheater blocks and all I had to do was make up the sashing and borders.....
It was a kit I bought quite a few years ago.... nice lap size...
As you can see there is nice quilting opportunities - which is what drew me to it in the first place... and the colours
The kit even came with coordinated binding fabric so I made that up too.....
I also cut up these little Dresden blades and sewed them together...… this is the background for my circled cottage stitchery.....
Last night I appliqued the plate on and today I am going to work on the centre circle.....
Michelle has been working on her Wings and Pretty things quilt and now I have started mine so that we can sew along together.... she has done quite a bit more (see hers HERE) but this is the start of MY centre panel..... I feel the need for some needleturn in my life... there is EPP involved in this one too! hmmmmm perhaps she is trying to convert me....
Righto, Gotto Go.... I've got a few hours stitching with a different group of ladies today.... a monthly get together and usually a lot of loud laughing.....
Hi Fiona love your quilt the blocks in it are stunning,i also love your dresden plates, beautiful work my friend, well done .

Lots of pretty eye candy! You’ve accomplished so much. I have a scrappy Dresden UFO that I had hoped to complete this summer, but it never even got pulled out! I’ll have to put it at the top of the spring list!
ReplyDeleteLots of yumminess to keep you busy Fiona :-) Nice to work through a few things to get them progressed to the next stage. It seems you didn't chat too much on your choose-day - you got heaps done!!! [Nice to see you've started a new project too :-)]
ReplyDeleteVery productive. love the white border with the pinwheels.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just noticed how skinny the dresden blades are!
