Thank you Wendy for hosting FNSI for us last night
Yesterday I was quilting all day... I like this border that I did - I'm usually timid using contrast colours but in this case I think it worked well..... the centre of the quilt had all over large swirls and fabrics with leaves and paisleys so I used those in the border design..... as you can see in a variegated thread....
Last night after some gorgeous Thai Green curry takeaway (we hardly ever do takeaway so it's a big treat for me!) I sewed the blue flower....
…. well to be honest 2 blue flowers.... (the leaves and bases had already been done)
there are 2 more to do. I'm sewing along with Michelle.
Hubz finished off this jigsaw
I found several of these lovely old fashioned scenes in an Op Shop ($2 each) There was one piece in the border missing. Hours of entertainment.
My little cushion I used virtually every night to rest my arms on while stitching has had it's last wash I think....
Years ago the blog world was alive with swaps, stitchalongs, round robins and challenges. I met heaps of bloggy people that way.
This is one where we were provided the pattern and did a bit and passed it on for the next round. I'm afraid I have forgotten who hosted it but I think Marina, Maria and Carol all participated in making mine....
You can see it has been well used ….
It's just the right size for a lap cushion... a new one will have to go on the "To Do" list for next year!
Righto, it's this time of day now.… so I'm having a cuppa off to read what the others over HERE sewed last night....

What a lovely cushion, it tells the story of friends and lots of loving use. They're hard to part with
ReplyDeleteLovely quilting, Fiona, as always.
ReplyDeleteSad to see the end of the cushion but so good to see it was loved and used.
What a beautiful cushion Fiona - and very well loved too. I hope it can be recycled somehow. Very nice quilting and applique. xx
ReplyDeleteGreat quilting, sad about your cushion, but it still looks pretty. Good jigsaw too xcx
ReplyDeleteAha - yes, that stitching round robin, I took part too - your cushion looks like it's had a great life and seen lots of stitches. Lovely quilting :-) And lovely applique too. I love that jogsaw - great achievement getting to the end!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting Fiona, and you applique is beautiful too. Well done on the jigsaw finish, that looks like a tricky one. That cushion is extra special, how nice to be stitching away with something that has special meaning.
ReplyDeleteIt shows that you loved the cushion ... and that's a great compliment.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing it's replacement some day... xox
Oo, I love that border quilting! I can never get the hang of those sort of ribbon swirls where the lines cross each other in a graceful way. Mine sort of galumph along. The variegated thread is so lovely, too! Your little pillow has seen many hours of happy stitching, hasn't it? It's a testament to how dedicated you are to your craft :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely memory with your cushion.
ReplyDeleteEven though it isn't in its prime anymore, it is still a gorgeous cushion. I hope you will keep it once you've made a new one. Maybe it could become a wallhanging to reflect your shaded garden. Just a thought. Love your sunny mugrug. ;^)
ReplyDeleteFinally got all caught up with your blog posts - so little time lately!!! Oh Fiona I just love every single project you've been doing, such eye candy to inspire me. Your quilting is so gorgeous, your pillow is darling, and that cute little mug rug!!! Thank you for being such an inspiration to me, hon!!!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly had a busy time sewing. I like to use a pillow for resting on but mine is plain white. Perhaps I should make it a cover.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a well loved cushion and a pretty one Sad to see it go I bet
ReplyDeleteSo many people have stopped Blogging but I still enjoy seeing what others get up to
Nice mug rug too

ReplyDeleteThe quilted border is really effective. Your cushion has certainly done stirling service. I remember seeing that on blogs way back when. Aren’t jigsaws great fun. I just don’t seem to have a table I can set aside for them at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI just love the quilted border! Do you do that freehand? I think I need lessons!! xx
ReplyDeleteLove your border quilting! very pretty design.
ReplyDeleteI still have my cushion from the 'round the garden' sew along. It was hosted by Helen Stubbings.
