This last week I have actually been quite busy with some quilting for others and as such I have not done much of my own sewing... however I wasn't going to pass on Tuesday block sewing with the girls - we got through a record number of sampler blocks in one day ...
(These are all 6" blocks based on Sylvia's Bridal Sampler by Jennifer Chiaverini)
Homework had been the handwork for the handles for these tiny little baskets...
Stamp Baskets (32 pieces) |
Here we are sewing at my place.... Christine is hard at work on the sewing machine and Lyn is hard at work at the ironing board....
I did this one Foundation Paper Pieced but the others worked it out normal piecing...
Album 1 (23 pieces) |
Foundation Paper piecing for that crown part and then stitching with curves...
New York Beauty (18 pieces) |
We changed the name for this one... in the book it is called Contrary Wife but I don't believe there is such a thing in our world....
Domestic Goddess (13 pieces) |
This one seems to have so many different secondary patterns...
Friendship Quilt (21 pieces) |
I got myself quite confused cutting these pieces, some have to be one way and then the other..... and a little bit of homework handsewing for the stalk done beforehand....
Autumn Leaf (19 pieces) |
So a record breaking 6 blocks and 126 pieces added to the count - here they are all together
Handwork homework is the applique for Lancaster Rose... I am doing mine blanket stitch with a single thread....
As I mentioned I have had quite a few 'customer' quilts this week which is wonderful.... I love being asked to play with other people's quilts (though I will always be nervous doing it I think)
I am ridiculously pleased with my cards I designed and had printed.. the background is some of my miniature quilting ... it feels so 'official'.....
This week is FNSI with Wendy.... sign up's are HERE. I will be with other stitchers and keep going with some stitcheries....
Oh ... and we got a contract on our house (still conditional) ... which means we better find somewhere to live.... so this next week will be crazy busy.... not much sewing but I'm not leaving out Tuesdays and Friday nights...
Righto, Gotto Go... realestate.com needs to be searched .....

ReplyDeleteYour blocks are amazing! Your new business cards....very clever! I think you are so brave to FMQ customer quilts on a domestic! Mine are still labeled as 'learning quilts'. Even if I was good enough to to quilt for others, I don't think I would. It takes so long to do one quilt! I'd miss the time sewing for myself! Good luck and have fun with it! XO
ReplyDeleteSo,much is happening...love your cards....happy house hunting.....your blocks are awesome 💖💖
ReplyDeleteFantastic blocks! Good luck on finding a place to live. We have so much 'stuff' in our house, I couldn't bear the thought of moving it all.

ReplyDeleteYay sold your house...lot's of houses around here for sale..you might need to buy some thermals but. Your blocks are stunning and at the rate you are going you will be quilting your own very soon. Your business cards are very fancy...xx
ReplyDeleteHappy news on the house! Yes, "Domestic Goddess" is much better! Such wonderful progress and, of course, you would foundation piece! It is who you are!!!!! Seriously though, with such small blocks, accuracy is difficult and distortion is always lurking so foundation piecing really is the answer!!!! Happy FNSI and all your other "life" tasks!!!! Hugs.................

ReplyDeleteI love her books and have all of the ones about the quilting group...I think the first one is what got me started quilting when I went out and bought material to make my own sampler....
