Chooky would love to know who is coming so let her know HERE who you are and where you are from
After my bookclub tea we will be having beer and BBQ

One of my most favourite projects was this fusion blanket I did in 2012....
The picture is dark but it is made of soft pastels and I did embroidery butterflies (from Butterfly Garden quilt) on several of the blocks prior to sewing ....
.. the back is a pretty flannel.... and I crocheted with a bamboo yarn which is very soft and cuddly....
I wanted to do a similar project but in a light weight version and when a friend gave me some pretty matching fat quarters I decided the time had come....
I am using 4 ply cotton yarn from Bendigo Woolen Mills (their service was wonderful and prompt) .... this one is a lovely rich colour called Pomegranate... and feels as delicious as it looks....
The orginial tutorial I followed was HERE at Sewing Daisies..... and you can follow my process for my first one HERE if you are interested...
.... and I hope to do a bit of binding too....

ReplyDeletehow strange - I've been daydreaming this week about starting a fusion blanket! Trying to talk myself out of it as I've got too many other projects on the go!
ReplyDeletei went to see the Chookyblue post to find out about the party, but I'm none the wiser!
Beautiful blankets so different, looking forward to stitching with you over the week end :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I will be popping in and out of the chookshed but some time is better than none.
ReplyDeleteI came across this idea more years ago than I can remember in a library book, it was a cushion not a quilt.....I did copy it but don't know if I still have it, it may have disappeared over the years.
ReplyDeleteYour new fabrics/wool are looking good. I think it will be gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSee you at the Chookshed.
I bought some bamboo yarn, haven't used it yet, but I liked the feel of it and thought it would be nice for dying and using in punch needle pieces.

ReplyDeletePretty blanket - the new one is going to be lovely too. xx
ReplyDeleteHello Fiona.....Marina (maisie and the boys) directed me here because I am wanting to do a fusion blanket...I have been to Sewing Daisies and some other tutorials but non of them give any indication of how much yarn they used. I see you used 4ply so I will keep that in mind but what size hook did you use with that ... I am planning to make a baby size one out of 8" flannel squares.
