Well... this week I let myself get ahead of things....
too enthusiastic in the laundry washing... which meant I did some catch up on folding and ironing...
whilst watching Invictus on TV
Following the death of Madiba I was reliving this period, I remember watching Mandela return from exile on Robin Island, I remember the fear of retribution which was expected, I remember his reconciliation and wearing the green and gold and I remember watching the game live and holding my breath till that last drop kick was scored...
What a leader of our generation, in my view he is up there with Ghandi, Martin Luther King and Mother Theresa... living peace and showing others a better way....
Apparently the film of his life "Long Walk to Freedom" was being screened for the first time when they heard the news.... I look forward to watching it next year....
A couple of years ago I showed you pictures from my holiday in UK.... we visited family in Norfolk where they live near the town of Cromer....
... we walked along this lovely pier...
.. recent wild storm surges have done this to this historic place....
... and I loved these beach huts along the coast there...
... they have been damaged too...
... unusual weather patterns all over the world....
Back to the heading... it was FNWF last night thanks to Cheryll ..... (there was wine, and nuts, and beer, pretzels and dip, white christmas (not sure what that is but if it's edible I'm happy), and good music....
.. and I did sew a bit of my felt Santa.....
Righto, Gotto Go.... that folded and ironed pile needs putting away now!!

I thought of you yesterday, a sad day for South Africa...hope the storm damage is repairable, what a mess, not expecting to see cyclone-like storm damage from the UK!...your felt Santa is very cute and hey, now you've caught up on that laundry stuff that gives you more stitchy time on the weekend, yes?...oh by the way, White Christmas, definitely edible, it's a rice bubble based slice with white chocolate, glace cherries and whatnot...
yes very sad news,oh that storm did do some damage what a shame.Lol we both worked on our santa's,have a lovely weekend my friend.xx
Even though you know who the great names in history are, it is fascinating, and touching, to hear the personal snippets of someone who knew what it was like and really knows how great a man he was.
You are such a domestic goddess. :D
The uk weather is unbelievable right now. Those photos really show it.
It was nice having your company last nite Fiona... and thanks for sharing those wonderful pic's! :)
How sad to see that historic pier and bathing boxes. Your Santa is cute Fiona.
You know that now the laundry is out of the way that means more sewing time :o) hugs
mmm laundry done...tick
ironing done....tick
Now for the fun part of the weekend....
ME TIME!!
Enjoy your weekend :) Barb.
I think everyone who wishes for a better more peaceful world feels Madiba's passing. Those storms certainly did some damage. Iam glad you enjoyed your nibbling, sipping and stitching.
A sad day, yes - but also a day to rejoice on how much he meant to the world, and his legacy. Saw footage about the storm, it has done an amazing amount of damage.
Mandela was a great man and will be missed by many....
My what a pile of ironing there...
Oh what a lot of damage. But I am sure it will be re built.
Like the wee Santa.
A very sad day for sure. Terrible storm damage. Hugs, xx.
Wow that storm damage is terrible. I have seen a preview for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and it looks very good. On my to watch list
Storms are horrible aren't they, such a shame for the pier and the beach huts. Your santa project looks very sweet.
It is a great loss such an amazing man....what a storm...love your project...
Very sad news Fiona and I love that quote you have shown!
Your snacks sound pretty good for Friday night.....Santa is lovely.....the time is getting closer!
well done for getting ahead!
Ironing is not so bad if there is a good movie on.
cruel damage to the lovely pier.
lovely progress on your santa. I see you have given the staples a go. I was going to mention staples when you had them prepped. They definitely save your fingers from getting stabbed by pins!
Your Santa is looking very cute and what a beautiful saying. Don't you wonder where all that laundry comes from..
Such total devastation from the force of nature. We saw footage of houses being swept away, total flooding, such a mess. At least some of the new defences stood their ground otherwise it would have been even worse.
Like your little santa,
A lovely man Madiba - no one can live for ever and I think that the last 20 years of his life must have been the most amazing for him. So sad to see the pictures from the east of England - such beautiful structures devastated. But fortunately no lives lost - I am constantly thinking of those in the Philipines who have lost everything including family. We have so much to be thankful for. xx
I sewed yesterday so now I have to do the chores today; washing, ironing and baking! :(
Love those little santas.

Love those little santas.
Lovely little Santa.
Certainly a sad day for the world.
Cute Santa.
The world has lost a great person, very sad. The storms certainly did do a lot of damage.
Regards, Anita.
My ironing basket is starting to look like a mountain. Work to be done.
I agree with your comments regarding nelson Mandela. An amazing man.
I can't believe the damage from those storms. Your photos really tell the story.
Good to see the tree farm growing.
I felt so sorry for the family who came home to find their house on the beach. All the furniture was still in place, it was as if someone had just lifted the shell and dumped it in the wrong place
Love the stitiching but so sorry to see the pictures of the pier. The weather can cause some tremendous damage.
White Christmas is something you eat - here's a recipe (very sweet so you only need a small slice).

Hi Fiona, yes indeed get that laundry out of the way so that the more important business of stitching can happen!! They are such a gorgeous collection of gifts from cheeky Cheryll in the previous post, lots of lovely goodies to enjoy... wonderful x
Any chance you can come over here an do my ironing..... before I'm forced to run around naked... or very wrinkled! :o) Lovely Santa stitching.
